RB Pitboss #1 [SPOILERS!] - Kublai Khan of Rome

I'll do a pretty detailed review of our current situation. The more I think about it, the more I realize that I have played this game to date pretty poorly - mainly from a tech selection point of view. I really hope that TAD can pull it around smile.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Here is the current unit situation ...

7 warriors, numbered W1 thru W7
2 workes - Wk1, Wk2
1 Settler - S1
1 Preat - P1

Current Tech situation ...
researching wheel, please dial up tech to 100% until we run out of money and then drop down to 0% for 1 turn, then back up to 100%

I want ...
hunting (for the phants)
pottery (for granary and cottages)
animal husbandry (for the piggies)

I don't have a preference for order, any suggestions?

Current Scouting Units
See pic at top of this post (following unit numbers represent units at map location, NOT the unit name) ...
  • '1' move SW as per instructions from rego to find ZPV
  • '2' move N 1 tile and then generally NE - I think there might be water to the E as I haven't seen anyone coming from that direction ... if you run into water, move N to move around it - I feel that moving E or S will just get you back to mh and kodii's second city
  • '3' move generally SW

Generally stick to forests - note that '1' above is Woodie II so you can move him two tiles

Current Units Near Home

Following unit letters represent units at map location, NOT the unit name) ...
  • 'A' move NW to Imhotep's new city, move into his territory triggering WAR
  • 'C' move SE and settle next turn - name of city ... 'Unimatrix 2'
  • 'B' represents 1 warrior and both workers - not 100% sure what to do with the workers, I would have liked to road but we don't know the wheel yet, cannot pasture piggies ... chop jungle? ... or chop forest into Unimatrix 1 or 2

So, TAD (and others if they want to chip in) - you ok with these? As I said, I am not sure what to do re Tech or Workers. I am now regretting moving the workers South as I would have liked to farm the sugar (or is that wasted worker turns?). I do think that we should cottage one of the phants as I expect that everyone will have ivory and we will not get much trade value for them.

My thinking re Unitmatrix 1 is to whip the Preat there as soon as we can and chop a granary. I've been thinking about mh and Kodii ... aren't they the only Industrial civ in the game. Maybe we should let them build us some wonders and then take their cities. It would be nice if they landed mids (unlikely) or stonehenge (bit of a waste as we are creative). It'll take us a while to build 5 or 6 preats so they have some time to finish our wonders.

Tech path for me is always hunting->Ah as I dislike wasting beakers if a research earlier makes it cheaper. Especially in the early game as you need all those techs eventually.

So, hunting-Ah-Pottery-Writing if you ask me.

I disagree with your industrial civ assessment. We can surprise them early on, but I do not doubt that any civ waking up near a roman one does not waste time on wonders but gets axes asap. I doubt that with us so near they will grow complacent. Only if we nap them perhaps? Nah, I would rather kill them asap..

agreed on tech suggestion

and on war with mh as soon as we get units there

Edit: @ TAD ... I'm going to tidy up what I posted 2 above and send it to t-hawk. Buzz him via RB PM when you get back to let him know that you are taking back control of The Collective.

this is what I sent ... the password is a dummy password, it is not our real password smile

Thx for stepping in T-Hawk. Here are your instructions. Let me know if anything isn't clear. I don't expect you to have to execute too many turns as TAD will be back by mid week.

Password is '$$$$$$$$$$$$'. Let me know if anything is unclear.

If the game really flies, then here is the tech path ...
hunting (for the phants)
animal husbandry (for the piggies)
pottery (for granary and cottages)

I still think that unmatrix002 will be much better 1W: you will have more & better tiles, less tiles sharing with 001 (not really important), and more forrests to chop praetorians (and on hill for defence, not that it should matter).

The only downside is that the bare forrest might have a ressource, but since you already know BW and IW, you should not bother too much about a settling on a possible futur ressource

I did look at that suggestion. X can work 6 hills. 1W of X can only work 4 hills. I never see Unimatrix 001 as much of a city - really just a junker to get iron up and running.

I have played T59 as per instructions.

Delta Quadrant grew to size 3. No instructions were present for what tile the third laborer should work. It defaulted to the 3-0-1 sugar but I changed it to a 1-3-1 hill since you seem to be intent on the Praet rush.

thanks T-Hawk. I forgot about the citizen assignments. I would prefer to grow the capital ASAP so work the suger + rice with additional citizens working a mined grassland hill.

How many turns until Preat hits Imhotep's land? 3 or 4?

Ok I logged in and changed it.

Max growth would also be to work a 2-1-0 forest or elephant over a 1-3-1 mined hill, but I don't think you want that, and also either way is 5 turns to growth (you're at 1/26 food needing 25.)
