[SPOILERS] Yossarian blames Caledorn

Damn it Caledorn! I ignored your advice, took Old Harry's advice, and the bear moved to a bad spot. I'm sure this is your fault somehow.

Aaargh! I will go flagellate myself right away.
As the Americans learned so painfully in Earth's final century, free flow of information is the only safeguard against tyranny. The once-chained people whose leaders at last lose their grip on information flow will soon burst with freedom and vitality, but the free nation gradually constricting its grip on public discourse has begun its rapid slide into despotism. Beware of he who would deny you access to information, for in his heart he dreams himself your master. - Commissioner Pravin Lal, "U.N. Declaration of Rights"

Oh no! Will you have to settle se of the cow or delay?

Depends. I'll road the cow tile with both workers this turn. If the quechua wins against the bear, then we can settle the desired location. If the quechua loses, then I'll settle se of the cow. Can anyone verify that the bear will run away if I settle am empty city next to it?

The other option is to settle west. It's still not too late for that.

I'm 99% sure he will run away. I world-builder tested it for PB13 and a lion ran from an empty city a few times. But I don't know what the code says...

I thought we had vision on everything in a 2-tile radius around the cow, so we would be safe to move both workers and the settler there. But that forest 2 south and 2 east of the cow was actually fogged.

So, I moved one of our workers between the cow and gold to be sure, and we were safe to move, but since that worker lost it's turn, we can't complete a road to the desired site next turn. Wish I could say that was a misclick, but no, just a dumb play. I think it's probably going to be best to just settle se of the cow no matter what next turn...

I'm getting behind on turn updates, so here's a screenshot dump.

Things are still going according to plan. Switched to the coast tile to finish Pottery 1 turn early.

Looks like Care Bears researched Poly, not Medi, to get Confucianism.

Turn 44:

This is when the animals start screwing us. With the bear and lion showing up, I retreat on both ends, moving SW with Moiraine and NE with Cadsuane. Pottery finished so we're getting things set-up to finish 2 terraces in 2 turns. The settler for city 3 is whipped.

Turn 45:

I decided to finish defogging the coast. Since we're settling the south coast soon, I figured we might as well try to get trade routes with our western neighbor whenever we decide to research sailing. With the bear moving north, it looks like we're forced to take that fight.

All caught up now. There's lots going on this turn. We won the fight against the bear! Just barely though. In the north, we spot our first barb warrior, but I'm almost glad since that means the bears stop spawning. We settled our third city! The terrace will complete T49, gold mined T51, corn inside the borders on T54. Both our terraces finished so Server Problems will pop borders on T48 and Silent Neighbor on T51. We'll get the Gladiator's tech in the next three turns or so.

Our workers are chopping the terrace and connecting the gold around Bad Econ. From there they'll go hook up the copper after Silent Neighbor's border pops on T51. Then we'll have to run back over to farm the corn once BE's border pops on T55. Up north we have a worker making our first cottage. I was surprised again by the high maintenance from settling a new city. We should have been able to finish Hunting at 100% with gold to spare, but instead I had to lower science to 70% because we ran out of money. That doesn't delay Hunting, but I have no idea what this will mean for the completion time for AH.

I hadn't spotted those costs - crazy! Is this a torroid?

Guess the next three cities should all be minimum-distance from Server Problems wink
