[SPOILERS] Yossarian blames Caledorn

SutOxy

I already posted the message they sent us yesterday where they talk about dogpiling us.

Us to them tonight Wrote:Greetings Honorable Suttree for the Republic of OxyphenSuttristanis,

I am very intrigued by your teachings of OxySuttori Nirvana. So much so, that I spent the weekend in the desert (Palm Springs smile) studying all three branches. I have returned feeling awakened and refreshed.

Thank you for the Open Borders. I have accepted in-game. We would happily take you up on the offer to travel along your roads to find Team Orgynized. Please let us know which route we are able to take.

We appreciate your encouragement of our participation in the global quest to neutralize the barbaric and mute Romans.Unfortunately the Romans have connected their iron this turn and the age of praetorians has officially begun. Only by presenting a united international front can we hope to quell the destruction that they promise to bring. In fact, this is how we must approach India, as well. Our economy and agricultural output are so far behind there's that we cannot hope to beat them with land grabs and war. Rather, we must cooperate and work together to address the Indian threat, when that time comes, just as we are now against the Romans.

Take care,

Have we actually posted any of our correspondence with this team? I can't remember, so I'll post everything here.

Them to us 11/10 Wrote:Hello Blame Caledornians,

very nice to meet you at last and welcome to our kingdom! You are currently East of our capitol. Other civs in our hemisphere are (in clockwise order) Suttre/Ox -- Orgynized--- Eggheads -- Yuufo. We understand that your hemisphere is You- Rome-- Dinozaurs -- Classical Hero ---BowAivo.

So far, life in our hemisphere has been rather uneventful - how is it in yours? We have been very impressed, how well you have been doing with your score not being inflated by wonders or CRE trait or even being financial. We are looking forward to hopefully years of peaceful and mutually beneficial cooperation before our civs.

All the best,

Asterix for M & L

Us to them 11/11 Wrote:Hello Asterix of Team M&L,

It is very nice to meet you too! Thank you for the information about the northern teams. You are correct about the layout of the southern teams. We have now met everyone except Team Orgy, so our scout will probably be headed that way next.

Things in the south have been exciting. Of course, being between Zululand and Agg Romans, we don't want too much excitement! How has it been neighbouring India? I hope they are respecting your mighty nation's sovereignty with all those cities they have been planting! You seem to be doing well yourself with nice expansion and TGW. Congrats on that!

Are you interested in a NAP or OB? We were thinking a NAP too T125 would be good to start.

Take care,

YossarianLives for Blame Caledorn

Them to us this morning Wrote:Hi YossarianLives and Caledorn,

NAP until T125 would be nice, as well as Open Borders if you are OK with no scouting clause. As you now, Orgy is towards East from your scout's location, you are pretty close to them.

With respect to India, let us say that my team was initially happy that we have not got Praetorians, ehm, Romans as neighbors - nor Lord Parkin - but now we are not so sure that was a reason to celebrate. Indians are very nice, but all these cities take land - that would otherwise be settled by their neighbors ...

One thing we were wondering is that this map seems very symmetric except for Wonder resources (stone & marble) - is this also your impression?

Thank you for TGW congrats - frankly, we did this because we wanted a wonder of own own and did not expect much competition for TGW. But I must say having NAP with barbarians is rather nice. BTW, if you will go Southwest this turn (opposite direction to Orgy), there is a barbarian warrior in the range, so better not go there. Which reminds me - we have heard that BowAivo impi is approaching us. What are your experience with that team? Do you think they may try to poach our workers or do something like that?

Best Wishes,

Asterix for M & L

Us to them tonight Wrote:Hi Asterix,

Thanks for the directions to Orgy and away from barbs! That is very helpful smile

We agree to no-scouting with OB. I will offer in-game next time I log in.

Your thoughts on the map sound about right to me. Some teams have no wonder resources (like us), some have them in the snow without food, and some have them easily settled near lush lands.

Our experience with the Zulu is that they are honest and trustworthy. We have Open Borders with them and have been happy to allow several of their troops through our lands. However, be prepared to wait a week between replies.

Take Care,

Yossa

I've also been doing a lot of chatting with TeddyKGB of EggHeads, but I'm too lazy to dig it up and post it or summarize it now. Basically, still working together against Rome, they want to build a galley and send it against the iron city.

Boy, I definitely spoke too soon. Full diplo really is exhausting with this many teams!

It's fun though. I really enjoy talking to my fellow players about the game. I like my chats with Teddy, and am looking forward to chatting more with Suttree.

Oh, noticed this just came in hot off the press as I was exiting out of our gmail account. Only 15 minutes after receiving the email I just sent:

Asterix to us Wrote:Hi Yossa,

I am very glad to have NAP and Open Borders with you and thank you for being so open with us. I trust you will keep this confidential: the reason we do not want scouting with you is not that we do not trust you but that we keep to refuse this to India - we are worried about them anyway. But not to alienate them to much, we tell them that we do not allow other teams to scout our lands, too, which is true. So as you can see, the situation withIndia is classical "our close borders spark tensions" wink.

Are you comfortable sharing with us your views on Rome? Any indications where they would send their Praetorians? Are they also concerned about India's dominance?

All the best,

Asterix

Turn 84

Scouting:

The Great Scientist belongs to EggHeads. Teddy tells me that Care Bears will be getting a Great Person soon, too. Hopefully it isn't a GE that they could use for a Pyramid.

Hopefully Moiraine can use SutOxy's roads to make our way to Orgy next.

I think our quechua's around Rome's south will just kinda stick around to look for praets. This is the image we sent to Dinos.

Overview:

We'll be settling our next city in a couple turns. We need naming suggestions for this. Basically, this is just for the Silver.

We settled Hangovers! BowAivo's warrior is currently in Silent Neighbors.

Diplo screens:

I was greeted with this when I logged in. Reminds me that I actually forgot to offer OB when I logged in this morning to play T85. Whoops.

Demos and stuff:

We're pretty solidly middle-of-the-road. Hopefully the demos will improve a bit as we settle more cities.

Turn 85

Scouting:

We received these directions from SutOxy:

Quote:RE: fastest directions to orgynized - head NE to Pluviose, pick up the road at the cow, and speed NE to Frimaire Then road E to Nivose and catch the Orgynized borders from the grasshill east of the horse.

And this message from Dinosaurs:

Quote:Yes, we met Byzantium so we can make anti-Rome pact with them and you.

We will try to build city near your warrior. If we will succeed, we will block Rome, so they wouldn't build more than one city on "our" side. Could you try to block them from "yours" side?

I think we can bring this quechua back now, use it as a sentry against GG

BowAivo:

I don't know how I missed that city. Going back in the screenshots, it looks like they settled it T83. Here's what I want to send them as the land division:

Dinos are planning to provoke Rome? That's brilliant! If they do settle that city then I'd go for currency so that when Rome and Dinos are done fighting you're way ahead.

Have bowavio encroached on the deal then?
Reply

Yes, both dinos and EggHeads seem to think the best approach to Rome is to try to contain them by settling up on them. They've both been urging us to settle right in Rome's face. So far, I've been able to deflect them. But what do you guys think? Should we send our next settler to the decent but provocative western wheat location, or stick with our plan of avoiding settling towards Rome until praets are neutralized?

BowAivo did not encroach on the border deal. In fact, they haven't even agreed to it yet, but if they had, their most recent city would have been ok. Unfortunately, it does invalidate one of the locations we were hoping to settle near their border.

Can you fob them off with something about your settling micro plan being sorted for the next 30 turns?
