[SPOILERS] Yossarian blames Caledorn

No problem, I'll take some overview shots next time I log in. What's the better zoomed-out view, culture or resources?

Right now I think the main thing we need is the location of players more so than what they have, at least for now smile

What's going on in the tech thread? At what point do we start just letting the timer go and letting people miss turns? Will that kill the game if we do so? What position are the missing/threatening to quit people? I see Asterix is near the top, but where are Arki and DT? Are we really the most active team just because we have 2 players and 2 semi-invested ded-lurkers?

Big picture!

Hmmm. I didn't realize you hadn't explored (roughly) the entire map yet. How much land is missing between the west and east?

Not much. Yuufo's and Asterix's borders are touching, and Asterix believes war will break out between them inside the next 10 turns. It's possible that Dino's and classical_hero's borders are not touching, but that is only because both teams have failed to expand.

This is a toroidal map, and it is a narrow sea that divides north and south. However, there are no connecting islands so astronomy is required to bridge the gap.

I wish we could just let the timer run out. Right now we've gone through about 300 hours of the current 999-hour timer. So, the timer will flip on it's own sometime in February!

I seriously doubt Arkipeller will actually quit. He's just cranky. Who wouldn't be after a week of being sick and bed-ridden? Asterix will come back eventually. She's just being really inconsiderate of the other teams. I have no idea what Dinosaurs' problem is ignoring Plako's instructions to play their turn. I think they just don't give a shit. They know they can't win, so they're just doing whatever they want.

We're not quite the most active team, that award goes to SuttOxy and DMOC/Teddy. They've got way more posts and views. But watch out Arkipeller, we're slowly catching up to you in thread views!

So Arkipeller definitely is not quitting. We've begun three-way chats between him and us and DMOC/Teddy. Arki is talking about attacking Suttree on T150, and we want to see how we can help him make that happen. Through Arki, we have acquired DMOC/Teddy's map, so here is an updated overview (in case this game survives):

Here's a view of the north-south wrap:

Here is our ally DMOC/Teddy:

They are using the threat of Rome to deflect attention away from themselves, but they are doing very well, and Rome will never actually attack them. However, their current land isn't too great, and they're out of peaceful expansion options, so they actually might start falling behind a little bit. My biggest reaction to getting their map is I'm pissed they made UMich such a shitty city!

And here is our newer ally, Arki:

Again, this team got off to a great start under Lord Parkin, and has taken something of a fall recently. Just look at that city of Alice...

Let's keep examining our neighbors. Here is a new shot of Rome:

Only update is that we now have vision on their iron city of Ravenna.

And BowAivo:

Look at all that nice land that is just waiting for our conquest smile Hopefully Rome cooperates.

We didn't get too much new vision on classical_hero, but here is something that gives a little explanation on why he's doing so poorly:

I'm not sure where he settled his silver city, but it has no food.

We don't have great views of Yuufo or SuttOxy, but here is what we do see:

I'm not posting any new shots of Asterix or Dinos (DT) because they are still mostly in the fog and we didn't get anything new from the map trades.

Ok, ok, I know you guys hate it when I copy-paste diplo. These are short, though:

IT'S A MIRACLE!!!

Yossarian to Catwalk and B4ndit Wrote:Hi B4ndwalk!

Our only deals with Asterix were Open Borders and a NAP to T125.

Beware! Asterix felt that an attack from India was impending, and would occur within the next ten turns. Being on the other side of the world, there is not much we can do to help, but let us know if you think of anything.

And thanks again for stepping in! It is much appreciated.

Cheers,

Yossarian Blaming Caledorn

I am giddy with excitement at getting to log into a new turn. Imma go do that now!

I think it's fine when you copy/paste diplo, just two things:
1. Keep it short and/or in spoiler tags
2. Don't just copy diplo, actually report--presumably copy and paste isn't taking the majority of your reporting time wink

I didn't take too many pictures from T120. CoL came in and my dilemma was: courthouses, wealth or units? I ended up queuing up courthouses in some of the worst offending cities, which we can 3-pop whip next turn or the turn after. That will tie our hands a bit as far as being able to whip units if Rome comes after us, but I think we have to play a little risky here to try to catch up to the game leaders. Plus I really doubt that Rome will come after us. Our sentry net remains in place to give us plenty of warning if I'm wrong. If they do attack us, we can't win this thing anyways.

The next decision was, which tech to research next? I ended up setting us on Monarchy, for the same reasons as above. Having changed some of our cities from wealth to courthouses means we're losing a decent chunk of change at 30% and we might have to lower the slider before Monarchy finishes, unless we can replace those with wealth builds in other cities. We might do that in the capital pretty soon.

Here are the pictures I did take.

We're still middle-of-the-pack in most demos.

At least Rome's power stagnated a bit. This turn we completed a barracks, chariot and galley that will give our own power graph a small bump next turn.

We spotted one more praetorian, but still no sign of Rome's main stack.
