Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[spoiler] Empire of the Chinese Twelve Foot Ninjas

I think this was a bit of a special case where I only have 3 cities, so having two buildings to spend on isn't a massive deal. I'm still Medieval and I've built all my Pagodas.

Religious Texts is down to +25/50% pressure presumably to account for trade routes giving religious pressure (if they otherwise don't). I figured with a lack of international trade routes, IP would be a little better.

Just remembered my spy can look into the city he's stationed in. Under 30 sci per turn seems a rather low amount for his NC city at this stage of the game. Either way, it's nice that even though he refused embassies with me, I could still steal from his NC city. Took Sailing (only option), hopefully he at least has Optics and I can steal that too (est. 3 turns). Definitely not expecting to see Compass, that's for sure.

Also, possibly bug, possibly feature, but I think Vienna was uncovered from the FOW after I stole Sailing. Just the city centre, but still nice to have that bit of vision so I can send my spy there after he's done pilfering Optics.

Bregenz falls. Chu Ko Nus with superpowered Chinese GG support are brutal. I think I'll keep up the aggression for now, and see how things unfold.

In other news,

Jkaen is building Borobudur in P.F.J, and (although difficult to see in the screenshot) I believe he is building the Pyramids in C.F.G. At this stage, I need to gamble on Jkaen doing something to Meiz before Meiz runs away with it, but building wonders is not likely to be the thing that helps. Unfortunately Jowy forced my attention his way during the age of Crossbows, and fighting a 2 front war is stupid when you're not the clear top dog.

Also, I have competition for Big Ben down the track unfortunately. Jkaen has put policies into Commerce. Right now though, I'm just hoping Meiz doesn't get Forbidden Palace, else he'll have the ability to put any proposals through World Congress that he wants without any ability for the rest of us to block him. With all his social policies coming out the wazoo, it's a realistic possibility that he drops one on Patronage just for WC control. At the moment an Embargo was proposed by Jowy (no prizes for guessing who he wants embargoed) and +5 culture on Natural Wonders was proposed by Meiz (I'll put my delegate there even if it gets me embargoed, no international trade routes and Uluru is being permanently worked by Mother Sky).

Could it be that the capital was uncovered by the world council? I can't quite recall if you get that capital tile reveal when it's founded or when it's first agenda is voted.

I don't think so, because I don't recall that ever happening in a SP game when someone else founded WC. But it's possible I've never noticed it because I normally instantly open embassies with the AI.

Was intending to raze most of Jowy's cities, but 6 food + 5 culture from Lake Victoria (assuming the WC proposal passes) plus a new resource in furs was enough for me to keep Klagenfurt.

Next goal is besieging Vienna.

So how do you think your war against Miez is going to go?

Horribly. He has artillery. Double shot Gatling Guns and the Great Wall will delay his ability to capture my cities, but it won't prevent it. And when my upgraded Chu Ko Nus are killed, he'll roll through me if I haven't got better units to defend.

My best hope is probably getting Cavalry and trying to pick off any units that enter my land. But the land around Mother Sky isn't great for that style of defense, and his Cavalry have a path through Zanzibar to snipe Mother Sky when it's been bombarded to 1hp. As soon as Mother Sky falls, I have no Great Wall to defend myself, and I'm boned.

Game over. Just overwhelmed with units too good for mine.
