[NO PLAYERS] PBEM 7 Map Making & Lurkers

The important part is that they have fun while playing the game. If that happens I'm sure they'll call it a good outcome.

Says the guy who wins all his games.  rant  rant  rant

Just kidding.  lol

It might be a bit easier for me to say. wink

But if only 1 player out of an average 8ish are having fun then we're doing something wrong.

Maybe everyone is assuming that Nan Madol would be banned? I think Cornflakes messed up given his reaction.

I twitch at the amount of salt that would be produced if Sullla/Singaboy got CMF/Woden's position. They would get Nan Madol and would be disinclined to attack MikeForAll due to their "let's boom China!" plan. This would have given MikeForAll time to mess up even more and totally cripple his team because what got them caught was pulling out three archers from nowhere to stop the attack.

There's no way to select city states, so no way to ban them. CMF made a great move by seeing the potential there.

You cannot just regenerate the map until you get lucky (use fog-of-war hack to check)?

Once the map is generated I believe Cornflakes (or whomever) needs to actually start the game to create the save file. Theoretically one could create a copy of the XML file with the city-state info that has the "offending" city-state deleted from it. This would effectively ban the city-state.

But then wouldn't you still have access to the 'random seed' and be able to try again?

Emperor K is buying walls with faith. Looks like the chop-meta has not been taken to heart by all players yet. I hope Archduke can make him see the light.

Also: Nan Madols Suzerain bonus can be crazy strong. I just remember that I had them during my last game, when I was playing as Indonesia. Almost all my districts were on the coast, so my culture was skyrocekting once I suzerained them!

I thought the same when I've read that. If you want the security, keep the faith stored for an emergency buy. I think that city is coastal, though, so there's always galleys.

I see a similar problem with players building the walls without limes and then chopping when it's 1-t from completion. It also loses effectiveness.

I suppose if you were looking to generate a map with a specific set of city-states, yes.  But if you're just trying to avoid not having one in particular then XML editing is a guarantee.
