Why not. Everyone else seems to have an easy time setting up favorable deals and whatnot

I'm a pharmacist, or, chemist if you prefer on that side of the pond. I just moonlight as a tabletop/board game runner, and I also do some panels on British Media at a few conventions as well...
Cull, I have to inform you that you've been traded to India along with Pouncer and Dragon. In return, the Friendly Kittens will receive darrell, and a chariot to be named later.

Dragon is a shock axe... isn't that close enough?
OK, I'll stop hijacking the IT thread now...

Wasn't there a handful of people other than Yaz who signed up for sub duty in the planning thread?

If you call timmy a handful, then yes, there were.
I'd honestly hate to ask him though, because there might be a team that totally has to quit at some point...

Maniac Marshall Wrote:RefSteel has indicated to me that when he gets back from vacation next week, he will no longer have an internet connection at home, and will barely even be able to even comment on the game going forward, let alone regularly contribute to decision making. The good news is my home internet connection appears to be sorted for now, though I still need to work on a longer-term solution. I'll certainly be able to participate in the game to the extent I originally intended. The bad news is...
RefSteel's original signup for the game Wrote:I'd love to participate in this. Scheduling concerns mean I'd mainly be a dedicated lurker ... but ... in theory I could even play turns from time to time. (In THEORY!)
Either way, if anyone would like such a person, I'd be happy to be a dedicated lurker and giver of semi-coherent, often-mistaken advice, and maybe in theory even sub for a turn or two sometimes. (Yeah, how could anyone refuse an offer like that?) ...this still applies. I'd love to take the team lead when Maniac's away the way he did during my vacation (and as I did for a short time during his first major con absence at the beginning of the game) but it's just not in the cards for the necessary timeframe. I'm continuing to look outside of RB (i.e. someone unspoiled who wouldn't have otherwise been available to take over in case another team needed them) for someone who could take the helm at least while Maniac's away, but without much luck thus far. Thanks to all of you for your patience with our out-of-game tribulations; we're going to do everything we can to make sure the Mayans remain a strong (and diplomatically consistent) civ in spite of whatever happens out of game, and Cull's been able to take a larger role of late, which helps immensely ... but yeah, we're really going to need another player to manage it, at least by sometime in May.
