Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[Spoilers] Cyneheard Rides Again

Spoilers will follow.

It's been a long time since I've played, well, anything that requires reporting here.

Let's see how this goes.

I am Italy.

It is a good thing I have no expectations.

Not sure what my options really are - depends on, well, who wants to work with poor old Italy.

I did not expect the fast adjudication to happen when it did - I've been struggling a bit with finding the time to talk to people, so having the turn roll at a surprising time did not help in that endeavor.

I hadn't quite reached a deal with Austria about a Lepanto plan, but that was the orders I submitted, so my fault for not closing that, but at the same time, the ruleset on fast adjudication was not something I really understood when making those submissions.

No idea what fast adjudication is or any of that. Let's talk about something else, namely science fiction which I was reminded of by your avatar. Have you watched The Expanse?

Good show. I'm a weirdo and would've been more interested in a series that never had the protomolecule - there's more than enough in that universe that it didn't need the Deus Ex Machina of the protomolecule at all. Fred Johnson stealing the Mormons' generation ship is enough of a story, not everything has to be The Universe Changes Forever Every Other Book.

I agree, I disliked the injection of the protomolecule and how it was able to break physics when to me the biggest appeal of the story compared to the average science fiction story is that all the rules of physics are preserved. The protomolecule does eventually pay off in the last few books though I've never read them personally, I've only read about them. Although I'm not sure the payoff has anything to do with the physics defying bits - they could have just kept the biological hijacking and wormhole aspects without the other parts that are in your face about the protomolecule's power and it could still play out the same, I think.

But regardless of the above it's still the best science fiction show and the best book adaptation ever made for me.

No, I have not handed control of Italy to the American Pope. He's got enough on his plate.

Thought about sending this to France (it's Spring 1902, for future historians), but am going to leave it here for the lurkers instead:

I have zero problems with EF turning into Big France as long as we keep the DMZ - some kind of long-term "France has 16 SC, Russian 12, me 6" draw is basically my best-case scenario as you make your decisions.

Austria almost talked me out of the stab (this was done in full coordination with Russia - Rum - Bla was part of my price for doing this).
