Lately, I've been playing BTS for the first time with two others in a Play-by-Email game via Discord, but we've been having an issue that hasn't come up in our OG Civ 4 games. I'm playing a 3v3v3 game where all the human players are on one team, and sometimes we get a file where the player is asked what to build in cities, but it's for the previous player's cities. After choosing what to build, the game gets stuck on a "waiting for [previous player] to take their turn" notification. We've been able to get past this a few times by having a previous player take another player's turn for them, but this time is hasn't gotten any better. I asked about this on the Steam forum for the game, and someone told me to ask here. Does anyone know how to fix/prevent this issue?

I was in the mood for some MOO-ish type action, so I started a game of RotP. (Yes, I know I still need to get back to ISG and MOO2-type stuff. ) I chose the cyborgs and got to scouting. I had some habitable worlds, fortunately, but I also kept running into inferno planets in my starting region. Six of them within the initial range of my homeworld and second colony. OK, I guess I am going to be pushing planetology hard in this game. Hopefully I have appropriate tech to colonize them without having to go all the way to radiated or something. Anyone else run into odd starts like this? I suppose it is just random, but it seemed odd.

Hmmm, shifters to my east, cats to my south, bugs to the northwest (beating me to an artifacts world ). This one could get tricky.

Introduction maybe?
I played a couple games in the past but it's been... 15 years? 
Started way back in the late 90s as part of an international mailing list. Had enough time to dive into the rabbit hole as a student and it was a very intense experience.
Some time after that, I discovered various gaming communities and tried a few different, mainly the german site "ludomaniac". Say Hi if you heard about it  

Participated a few times in face-to-face weekends, playing the classic board game as a tournament or just for fun and beer. Was fun but not very successful because I need time for tactics and communication, don't like to be stressed by a clock.


Ok, as for this game:
We are using discord for diplo which is unexpectedly uncomfortable. Technically it's super nice but the fact, that others can watch me writing is a bit like that teacher standing behind my back while writing a test. It's fine, I can deal with that and maybe it's even some kind of learning experience.
Slightly nervous to be honest, and slightly paranoid, I guess that's the game

Oh dear, and while writing, something is happening... early, unexpected adjudication which shows all saved orders.
That might be an issue if someone really wanted to change them later. If we are lucky then everyone is fine which his orders. If not... what can we do, probably restart with different nations?

The action is on Discord, but we can have a lurker thread here too. I don't have anything clever to add so I guess we'll see what happens after the first turn. I think the adjudication is supposed to be tomorrow morning?

Hey, IDK how much I'll keep the thread updated (the exchanges are already on the discord) but maybe I'll get some underlying thoughts sometimes.

So I can't really remember the rules of the game too well. Apparently I played in a game of Diplomacy on these forums years ago but I couldn't tell you anything about it. Going to spend today brushing up on rules and strategy and then we'll come up with something. I guess I'm lucky that I picked up France, as they're considered one of the easier nations to play.

I've exchanged a few opening pleasantries with Cyneheard (Italy) and Naufrager (Austria). Really need to talk to England, Germany, and Russia though.

Would appreciate any references to general diplomacy strategy that lurkers may know about. Hopefully we can make something of it.

I'll try to win Empath, but I worry that everyone else is going for Tyrant and Warlord.
