Well, don't know what came over me this morning, but I wasn't as pissed about my scout when I woke up. It took two days, but rational cool has set in. So, I sent Moogle a peace treaty. Not a cease fire which he sent me. If he signs it 10 free turns enforced peace. If he doesn't well, I'll have my warrior in place to spot him coming.

Also... my demos still suck. I'm now working a Plains hill mine, clam and deer. for 17 tiles yield... My pop is 3 and at least someone else is at 3 too, but I seem to be on the lower end of tile yields somehow. Even if I was working pigs (which are being pastured right now) I'd be behind. Maybe its just that I'm not focusing on mfg or crop, but if that were the case I'd be more middle of the pack right? Anyway take a look. I really want to see the other starts now...

It's not that mysterious. Looks like 2 people have 4 pop and 2 have 3. You may or may not be doing better than the other player with 3 - can't really tell since the rival worsts aren't necessarily the same person.

But once you get a fourth pop and add the pig, you will have 23 food+prod, higher than the 21 average. So it's very close, it's really just a single population's difference. And you've been not growing to build a settler, right? Who knows how many workers/settlers your opponents have? There's no statistic for worker turns earned per turn, nor for having potential future cities.

Generally speaking there a few places you can invest food+prod early on - population which produces 1 each or combines with improved tiles to produce more, workers which produce one worker turn per turn, settlers which give 3 per turn + a population + access to more tiles, granaries which produce a variable amount approximately equal to the city's food surplus, and culture which gives access to more tiles. (Population also has a massive flexibility advantage in that it can be returned for a full or over-full refund, though the drawback of not being able to use production.)

Workers only show up in the demographics insofar as they prevent you from working unimproved tiles, settlers are expensive and don't show up until a few turns after they are built, and granaries (which are a really big deal) don't show up at all. So you'll probably just have to wait a while to see how well you're really doing.

Where's my instant gratification!?

But yeah, I figured 2 4 pops and 2 3 pops. I'm really not as worried as it may seem. I have 3 workers out. That's a lot and it's going to snowball heavily if it already hasn't started. The chops were huge and they don't show up on demos either. Plus my workers have been working every single turn and they haven't built any roads. That means more time chopping and more time actually improving tiles. I'm sure all the micro will pay off around T35-40 when the 3rd city goes up and the 2nd city has hit 3 pop working rice and 2 river grasshill mines (16 yield a possible 10hpt for workers, 4 turn workers or 7hpt for warriors/axes/spears).

Not really worried just curious at this point what tiles they could be working.

Moogle accepted peace. I feel a bit dirty.

I think you're reacting a little weirdly to these CTON rules.

Interesting turn. I moved the warrior south-ish again towards the border isthmus with Moogle. Started another chop with W2 for the Stele in Rice city. Moved the settler towards its destination. The worker there will finish the chop and allow the city to be settled next turn. Pigs are also done, so I'm working deer, pigs, clams. When the new city comes up I'll switch it to pigs deer and mine for the same yield but freeing the clams up for the new city to work.

While the settler was moving I switched to Slavery. Myst was due in 2 turns when I went into anarchy. Then when I ended turn it and came out of anarchy it said 1 turn! I'm going to get Myst a turn early apparently because I got a couple beakers during anarchy and put me over the edge. If that holds true after I build my second city, I could be looking at getting the monument done 1 turn quicker as well. I'm not sure it'll stay at one turn though when I build the city, might lose 100% tech rate. Here's the Screenie at EOT with the news:

So SleepingMoogle has gone early Stonehenge. He's IND so it only costs him 40 hammers, but these are early hammers. It's a nice pick up, but I think he could have waited a bit and gotten another worker or settler out first expanding the growth and getting more snowball action. Turn 27 is really early and he had to have put a lot of early resources into it. I think the optimal play here would have been get a settler out first then build it.

Speaking of settlers:

Someone beat me to settling a 2nd city. Mackoti judging by the point increases. Only Moogle and he had point increases and Moogle's increase is the 16 wonder points. I don't much like that. Mackoti is creative which means the faster he expands the more land he's going to scoop up and the easier he has it. It doesn't matter where he is. He's going to be trouble for me down the road if he's able to squeeze whoever is near him. He's aggressive player with CRE/AGG traits. Perfect for aggressive expansion. Could not be worse.

I'll have to revisit my axe rush against Moogle if he's wonder whoring this early.

Would be funny if you managed to capture Stonehenge while being CHA. lol

How many hammers are you getting from that forest chop? It's outside of borders, but you should get a few, I think. Settling the city is definitely going to cost more than 1 gpt most likely, but with the extra pop you get one more commerce from the river mine which may keep Mysticism at 1 turn at 90%...probably not though. Probably better to just save gold next turn to avoid losing research to rounding unless it stays at 1 turn.
