Similarly, New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe (now there's a mouthfull) has two characters that are easier to play, with the easiest (Nabbit) being invulnerable to monsters and lets the kids focus on moving and jumping. My almost-4-yo hasn't quite got the interest for Mario Kart, but he can finish the first few levels on NSMBUD alone.

Probably for a few years' time, but I will always recommend Yoku's Island Express as a joyfully fun game that is easy for kids to pick up - though they may need a hand with some of the more complex bits.

Like stick them on an island to fight until only one is left alive?
Mine all play Fortnite, but actual activity... nah.

Well, I was thinking with some form of game rather than, say knives.

I'm pretty sure the user account necroing the thread is-was a bot.
On the other hand, 2 years have passed, making MJMD's older kid eligible for classic diablo 2.

I currently have a 7, 5, and 4. I actually tried briefly to teach the 7 year old civ because she caught me getting in my PB75 turn, but because I also had to watch the 4 year old I wasn't able to really teach her.
But ya any further recommendations? Not too complicated or scary.

I think only the act bosses were scary at first, and the cinematics.

Just an update. I did try some games early on and they never really took. Something about the touch screen generation or you know small children getting easily frustrated. The library actually had a descent collection of simple games, but a lot of those were touch screen compatible which didn't really help.
Introduced them to Spore a week ish ago now. A game that wasn't well received, that I mainly bought to support the overall idea, played for very short time period, and then forgot about for a long time. I was revisiting this idea though and was going through my games I own. Some of the weaknesses the game has makes it a good game for children. Its a series of simple mini games. Not great for a more adult brain wanting more challenges / complexity, but for introducing small children to a couple of gaming categories. Perfect. Its too easy, again for a more advanced gamer that is bad. For children the lack of any punishment for dying (in the first two stages) is good; it makes them less nervous about making mistakes. I've shown them through stage 3 and will probably do 4, but not 5. Don't have it connected online.
But ya working on arrow key or wsad controls along with using number keys up top and mouse control. Works pretty well and the older two like it. 5 year old is still a bit young for almost any game.
