They're doing OK *now*, sure. But they're not going to be keeping up moving forward.

My post wasn't meant to be a rhetorical device. Spulla at full bore could end up with close to 700bpt so their research potential far outways HRE's 464. When they break out the big guns to run at nationalism I expect everyone to be awed and scared by their GNP.

I guess I misunderstood you, sorry. I thought you were referring to the fact that their sustainable rates are currently not all *that* different (354 vs. 313).

Sheesh, now Penny is posting in S+S's thread as a dedicated lurker? Penny is very good, so that's a nice boost. Not that they needed it.

I'll just quote myself .

Spulla has played an outstanding game so far, IMO the only egregious error is all but ignoring PHI. Two GPs on turn 180 ? I understand their hands were full but they should have had the GPP city planned out before the dogpile hit.

Well looking at Athlete's latest update it does seem like some of you guys' fears will be realised.
With the presence of combat II Longbows in his major stack, it does seem that he is definitely using slaze's gifted units against him!
It is a shame but it probably is the most expedient move on Kathlete's part, as the only other paths are no expansion staying neutral, or a bloody and ultimately losing war against Spulla ruining their slight chance of victory

oh man, that's SCANDALOUS! Slaze is going to but that's what he gets for such a move. I wonder if he's going to bail when the backstab hits and we'll have to wait for another replacement?

There are times when I wish that I could be more draconian...but that exchange helps the lurkers to learn more than anything.

Slaze really should have got some real cast-iron agreements with Athlete before gifting away such a sizeable force.
Alas, I made a very similar 'mistake' in PB1 so it happens. Lets just hope he's still got more than a token defence left or he will hit the roof

It's going to be interesting to watch...
Do hope it doesn't drive Slaze out of the game - his warmaking has certainly been something good to see.
