Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

New Civ4 Pitboss - season 8 AI championship map

Against my better judgement I've decided to sign up.

Given that the map is known, I think we should have a three-round pick, adding in start location (and thus neighbors), or something similar.

Sweet. I'll make a couple of minor changes tonight. The two currently in my head are swap copper and horse and then make the marble be on flatland instead of on hills.

I BELIEVE my computer situation is finally resolved. After much trouble shooting we (and by we I mean my tech minded friend) believe problem was that my old power supply died the new one wasn't compatible with the older motherboard (didn't have the neg twelve volt pin) which was leading to it most of the time but not all the time not working)

"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. [Image: noidea.gif] In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

New version attached. Made a couple small changes (moved two golds 1 tile in addition to the other changes I noted).

I've been thinking over if we should do spots as part of the picking process and I think I would just rather random. If you feel some of the spots are worse or better can either suggest or just make some minor changes. I don't think more than that is needed. The whole point of using this map is there shouldn't be much of a difference. I realize there are based on capital distances ect, but maybe we just add some river to some positions to make up for the maintenance if we care that much (I didn't so I didn't make that change).

Speaking of handsome talented map people. If we do end up on king of the hill, I will need someone else to go in and freeze some barb rifles in the city (or infantry?). There is also the question of can we get rid of the observer civ without messing with things? Could also I guess leave it for the lurkers and give them a bunch of great spys or something (or maybe like 12 air ships and a bunch of gold and no one goes to war with them).

Maybe I should try to merge the Platybuilder in CtH ? - Okay, I'm not sure if I have time if that needs more than simple copy paste.

That should allow to freeze units at 0 movementpoints.
Maybe someone could load the scenario direct in Platybuilder, change that there and than load again in CtH; but I'm not sure if that will throw an error or not.
I did tried to change the cargo capacity of a aircraft carrier for testing porpose in the PB79 and couldn't load that in CtH.
I think you can set the oberserver civ to dead without real problems.
Removing it can produce problems. During testing for the PAE PB we found a problem, when the Civ IDs have a missing ID.
As such, you would need to change Player IDs that the obersver has ID 7 and than it should be relative easy to remove Player 7.
But I'm not opposed to have an observer civs. Maybe we could settle even a few great spys to get city visibility for all time ?

Anyway, a surprise that the game seems to get started.

I do have scooter's instructions from when he did this saved somewhere, intending to add it to the mapmaking guide. Removing the observer civ should be easy.

One person downloaded the map so there will be 0 complaints yes? If people feel a couple rivers need added to help some positions or resources need moved slightly now is the time.

I was really hoping to sneak no score through, but the ONE person who voted Xist made me add it to the voting tracker.

I've planned to go over the map sometime during the week, and remove the observer civ if nothing else.
