Hmmm, would it be possible to finish a turn, create a new WB file from the current save, and relaunch it as a new game with the correct mod? Or do protected assets prevent that as well?

I don't think we can carry on for much longer with me having no access to pikes

Yes, I tested giving myself Engineering and iron under the capital in a single player game. They don't show up as a build options for HRE

I believe this works, but the problem is that the food and hammer and GPP boxes aren't stored in a WB file, so every city would end up with those empty. Other things I think get lost: worker turns on tiles, unit fortify bonus, sustained peace trade bonus.

The only solution I can think of is a really kludgy one, and it's dependent on scooter having acess to the python console (I don't know if he does), being willing to help us every single turn for the next 40 turns or so (he really shouldn't), and knowing how to use the console to delete units and immediately replace them (ie replace a longbow every time it is built, and delete an Xbow every time one is built when Yuri confirms that it should be a pike).
