[SPOILERS] Sandover(cre/spi) of Egypt

Actually, I think you've been doing a pretty good impression of me this whole time, what with the rampant paranoia and conspiracy theories. Unfortunately, like me, it seems you may have been jumping at shadows, and not what cast them. Fortunately, unlike me, you're also prepared to deal with the real threats. lol

Whatever the result of this war is, it should be entertaining for us at home!

True. It's not every day I research Nationalism before Paper so it goes without saying that this sort of option is new to me.rolleye

Unless they decide to turtle after the initial outbursts, which is clearly a possibility considering how good I am!hammer

Chillingworth lives?

Not that surprising if Chillingworth does live...that pike and LB are both beasts.

Oh hi there God of Peace. You should know that all of my siege units are named "Servant of Krill" since us Egyptians have our own definition of what's considered peaceful. Please bestow upon us a favourable treaty once I'm done kicking ass.bow

Krill Wrote:Not that surprising if Chillingworth does live...that pike and LB are both beasts.

Indeed.

I think the time is due to create a trap for TT and to set up an assault on NLO.

Can I advance on two fronts at the same time? Stay tuned to find out!

I kind of expected you would say something along those lines.thumbsup

Two Great Generals were born while I played my turn and two others were involved in combat. I think the turn update is going to be a worthwhile read.wink

Turn 123 - Victory on Two Fronts

First, lets have a look at the situation in the south.

Timmy threw everything he had at the city but a single garrison unit saved the day with a massive 2.4 strength left! The Pharaoh will be forever grateful to those who died saving the city in the Battle of Chillingworth.bow

Oh, and kudos to me because without the culture bomb and Worker standing in the way this may not have had a happy ending.thumbsup

Since three Horse Archers withdrew from combat Timmy had 9 units left alive in the stack plus the Sentry HA coming in behind. Four Knights and a War Chariots hurry to reinforce the city - they engage the Khmer survivors killing five units including the Great General Medic! His head will be sent to the Khmer leader as a reminder of this day.

Chillingworth has been renamed Worthington since the dishonest leader of Rome simply doesn't deserve to have a city named in his honour.

There's 8 hostile mounted units still alive in the region, 4 of which are Timmy's injured Horse Archers, but it's safe to say that Worthington is no longer in any immediate danger.

I'm actually gaining influense over the tile right next to NLO, so I should be able to take that city whenever I desire. It's just a matter of gathering a second army group to get the job done.

Egyptian Casualties on the Southern Front:
1 Worker
1 Spearman
1 Axeman
1 War Chariot
1 Crossbowman
1 Pikeman

Khmer Casualties
12 Horse Archers
1 Great General Medic

All of this is nothing compared to what took place in Germany, however. Shall we have a look at the situation over there?

I said I was going to plan a trap for TT but apparently he decided to get frisky and try to pursue right away. I'm impressed he managed to conjure 11 Horse Archers out of nowhere but sadly for him he neglected the fact that a retreating army always have the possibility to turn around and fight back...

I hit him hard with my sieges, causing collateral damage like there's no tomorrow. An afterthought is that I should probably have been a bit more conservative with my Catapults but rather use too many than not enough, right?

Knights slice through the disoriented Germans with a breeze, flanking hard at the enemy Catapults. Crossbowmen then join the fight, at first doing surprisingly well but still ending up suffering some casualties in the end. Horse Archers follow up the attack on the flank destroying most of the siege units and War Chariots then get to have their way with the crumbling enemy horde. Even my Great General Medic gets to see some action in the field this day, but the mere quantity of soldiers beeing fielded by the Chancellor make it so that there are still Germans (barely) standing on their feet once the Egyptian 1st Army have exhausted all of its stamina.

Two Great Generals are born during the battle. One in Jive (TT's second) and another in Psamathe (my third counting the one I got from Bob). I cannot tell you what TT is doing with his but mine was used for a Medic War Chariot which will serve in the Egyptian 2nd Army that is being created to counter Rome.

Here's the situation after the battle:

Egyptian Casualties in the Battle of Germany:
20 Catapults
4 Crossbowmen
1 War Chariot

Total: 25 units.

German Casualties in the Battle of Germany:
12 Longbowmen
8 Spearmen
8 Horse Archers
15 Catapults

Total: 43 units.

It's a shame I didn't have more soldiers available to clear the entire stack but the 19 survivors isn't going to threaten me again for a while. Not a decisive victory, but at least one that lets me hold onto my newly acquired territory. I'm happy with the result considering his huge advantage in numbers.

So I've dealt with what two oponents threw at me. Who's next in line?

I really hope Bob is going to move that stack towards Weird River. In its current state it will be completely decimated. Praetorians are usually nice but not when the enemy is fielding Combat III Knights.rolleye

As you can see Bob is researching Machinery, so he's still some distance away even from having Pikemen.

Lets have a complementory look into my Heroic Epic City, Satet, that's pulling some serious weight at these harsh times. I actually have to run a bunch of specialists in there to not waste overflow since its production during a golden age is simply massive.

I hope you enjoyed reading about this turn. I sure enjoyed playing it.wink

Thanks.

Three diplomatic messages have been sent. Oh, how I love the taunting.jive

Quote:Timmy,

How do you prefer your great general to be delivered? Shall I place his head in a bag or a barrel?

Quote:Chancellor,

I warned you about pursuing, didn't I?

Pharaoh Sandover of Egypt

Quote:Dear Scooter,

There are no peace, but I'm happy to tell you that I recently killed more than 50 enemy units, including a Great General. You'll probably be in a great position to win the game once the dust settles over here, since everyone other than you are involved in this war somehow. Feel free to join in on the dogpile in case you're feeling left out. wink

Anyway, that is not why I call upon you. The situation is such that I still have a massive espionage advantage versus Timmy, some 350 vs 50 points or so. Not only do I get visibility on his cities, but I can also tell what he's currently building in them. Loon Lake is about to finish the National Epic, for example. The thing is, I have only discovered about half of them, so discovering the other half would obviously be worth something to me. To be blunt; I'm willing to pay for an updated Khmer map, if one can somehow be acquired. Gold and detailed intel on your strongest neighbour are on the table. Let me know if you're interested.

Regards,

Pharaoh Sandover of Egypt
