A new mod enters the ring - Introducing "Close to Home"

On another note the Corporation change seems to be bugged. I am supposed to get an executive for Mining Inc once I get Railroad and Corporation techs, right? That did not happen. Maybe the reason is that some ai already founded Mining Inc. As I understand it I'm supposed to be able to found my own version(?).

I will investigate that.

Reposting this, not sure if you saw it due to the page change and you posting at the same time.

I checked back. The way I implemented it the game gives you an executive in this case Mining Inc Executive regardless if anybody has founded the HQ. No you are not supposed to found your own HQ of Mining Inc, there is still only one HQ and it needs to be founded by the corresponding Great Person as well as having all tech requirements. The change regarding Executives only guarantees that everybody gets the chance to play with that corporation in their cities and you are not dependend on other players spreading the corporation to you.

I did not get an Executive either way. That looks like a bug.

However, I don't think corporations are viable if you do not control the HQ. So it doesn't really matter.

@NobleHelium: I deleted the other version. There seems to be no way to get it to work. Currently, my suspicion is that there is an error in the path and it's not a permission issue at all.

Can someone help me with a sanity check? PRO in 1.4.2 and 1.4.1 doesn't seem to be giving me the bonus to domestic trade route yield. It works in 1.3 with the tooltip showing +75% from traits.

Ok, that is very strange that you don't get an Executive. I will run some more tests.

How exactly and where did you install Civ4? Which version do you use? Steam, GoG or CD?

Just checked. It's true I too don't get the bonus. This will require a new version.

If I understand it correctly then NobleHelium did change something related to file permissions on his system. Maybe that did contribute to the fix.

I strongly disagree with this.  Installing the mod here is exactly what causes the file permissions problems, because the game installation folder requires Administrator permissions to modify.  If you install the mod in My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\Mods then there should be no permissions issues.  If your install is a bit different (i.e. not BTS installed on top of base Civ4) then the folder path will be different but I would look for an equivalent folder in your My Documents\My Games path.

EDIT: I see now that civac said he tried installing it in the My Games folder but still has the permissions issues.  Did you actually extract a new version of the files into that folder, or did you copy over the existing install into the folder?  The latter probably doesn't fix it because the file permissions will be set from when the mod was installed in the game installation folder.  Doing a fresh extract into the My Games folder worked for me.

Unfortunately the my games folder doesn't play nicely with pitboss. Unless Charriu or Ramk have done something to fix that?

I did nothing regarding My Games folder and pitboss. @El Grillo I found the bug for Protective. I do want to investigate civac2s bug some more and then will build a new version.

Unfortunately, I don't know what to do about it. Mod is installed in C:\Users\[user]\Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\MODS .

I bought BTS from GoG. It is installed under C:\Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete. Do you use a relative path to write the log? You could put the text of the actual exception in the error popup ingame maybe.
