Also note the seafood by that island.

Mackoti offered OB, I rejected them. Why? I always hate it when people use the silly reasoning of "he'd benefit more than me" when it's something like you're gaining 4gpt (from his 4 cities) and he's gaining 6gpt (from your 6 cities). Guys! This is a 6-player game, we're coming out ahead!

HOWEVER, that is not the case here. Reason being, in one measly turn we're going to found an island city which will immediately obviate all but one foreign route (and possibly that one too, depending on how routes are assigned, which is kind of mysterious to me). So it would be 4 gold + 1gpt for us, 6 gold + 8gpt for mackoti. That's worth it if we cancel after the first turn by declaring war, but having to declare war would suck. So I declined.

This turn marks a low point of our research. Our net beakers + gold (before the writing multipliers) was nine - that's tied with turn 1. smile

Most important news of the turn:

WOW, that is a nice island.

We were planning to settle the desert (and immediately hook fish), but I'm not sure that's correct given the rest of the land. We'll reveal more next turn, and can make the decision then. For example, the plains hill wines is a great spot to settle, with 2h2c base. But if we settle there, we also want a city on the desert for the fish ... so maybe that should come first, anyway.

In case there's seafood by the plains hill wine site, I moved our workboat NENE instead of NN. This cost us 1 gold in away costs (which factored into the decision) but I decided the added flexibility was worth it.

I also redirected Fury, the worker who was going to build a farm for Io. Instead, Fury moved two spaces to be next to Io, and will get on the galley next turn and get onto that island pronto.

This is a great example of inflated GNP. Our base beakers minus gold is only nine, but we're researching Writing with two prereqs and two opponents that know it, and have a religion and Stonehenge. lol

I like how building an Obelisk followed by Stonehenge was cheaper than just building Stonehenge (not to mention the extra time discount). smile

(Of course, that's writing off Luna as an expense necessary for the Pyramids.)

Got it.

YNL got writing; I offered them OB, because we like them.

Island has even more; I moved onto the wines since there was seafood there, too.

Western galley's going to go give mackoti a minor scare, and scout a bit.

We have one more city than anyone else we know; are about to found a fantastic one next turn, and get the Pyramids in 2. Looks good to me. smile

PS really quickly - the best micro I saw for the island city is to work crabs until growth, work crabs + wheat for a turn to get to 9f, then whip granary and get to 14/14 food with avoid growth, then get to 10/16 food the next turn.

As Novice points out, our wonder "A settler, a worker and a galley" is a pretty good one.

Nice work.

I can't believe we got Stonehenge. lol So much better to build it as an afterthought on T49 than going Stonehenge before Settler at the start. Here's how cheap Stonehenge was for us:

OK, so our macro plans for the 50's are to settle that northern treasure island and its southern equivalent, grab the Pyramids, and chop the Hanging Gardens in Io. Time to micro. smile
I have to run.

Four. So Fierce (Cha/Imp) was our only real competitor for Stonehenge.

I made a plan up to T60, with Hanging Gardens completing on T60. It's nothing special, but I'll type it up. I notice that there's no plan for Belligerence - I think it should move to the plains 1E of Callisto and farm-cancel, then move 2NE to the plains forest hill and road it. We need the worker over there to get the HG, the worker being built in Luna can hook ivory.
