Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[SPOILERS] PBEM7 Lurker Discussion Thread - No Players!

I've made a post before pointing out that depending where the starting warrior is relative to the starting settler, the majority of people will explore in a specific direction and in a specific way (just following the algorithm to explore the most land/beeline away to find other civs). This is one of the reasons I placed all of the warriors slightly to the north of the settler, to try and get them to all head north...and because of the layout of hills in the capital, it isn't possible to pull of a single warrior rush smile

Dazed is the exception here, and it seems that he will be the first to realise just how thin their ring is.

Move evilness it would seem. ^^

Is scooter right about the Jimi Hendrix reference?
Seems a bit of a long shot.

I actually named it Slight Return, in that the map is effectively RBPB2 map, redux, but I first heard the term "Slight Return" from that same Jimi Hendrix song. That the lyrics fit is either pure luck, or my sub-concious guiding me.

So yeah, more evilness smile

I think anyone reading scooters thread realises why I put the forest on the ivory, and the hills in the outer ring of the capitals smile

If its not fallen after I have researched Bronze Working - I may consider going for it. But now I want to focus on building a solid infrastructure.

Serdoa's offer of Stonehenge without competition is nice - but I then cede a three corn site to my south west - probably just out of the fog.

What could be an idea is this:

He has gone Settler first I think (he mentioned settler being out by t16 at latest). IF that is true then maybe I could churn out 3 or 4 warriors (at 2/3 turns a piece) and hit him? He's gone Agriculture first and likely Bronze Working second so unless his capital has settled on copper (highly unlikely) he needs workers to hook it up.

Its a risky and very unlikely plan to take place, but I thought I might as well throw it out there!

Still laughing about TT's remark that settling on copper was 'highly unlikely'.

I don't know if I want to see him try the warrior rush or not....

How bad a mistake would TT be making should he decide to attempt a "warrior rush" with four warriors? Catastrophic, or merely ill-advised? Or perhaps it's a fantastic idea, sort of doubt that though.

I don't think he's going to anyway, mostly just tossing out ideas to bounce off of Kyan and Whosit.

Right now the game is pretty quiet with everyone simply working over their own development plans. When everyone finds the copper under their capitals, starts to explore the seas, and fights over the cramped mainland real estate, the game should become much more interesting.

It could work if he did it fast enough...just not sure if he can anymore.

I wouldn't call it quiet, because we could see some early warfare with warriors, interesting diplomacy, the MM is constantly in flux...what isn't there to like? Pretty pictures?

Couldn't have said it better myself... lol

This, on the other hand, seems quite right:

scooter Wrote:Alright so I was really stuck as to what to do about that spot, then some inspiration struck. Here's my sales pitch to Dazed:

<snip>

Alright that's my attempt. Really it's a good deal in his favor, maybe a little too good... But I think it's worth it. Really if he hasn't caught onto the Tilted Axis thing it might work out brilliantly - because my original theory was this was a strip of land in the middle which would imply the west coast has equal value... If he still buys that theory (I shared it with him) then this offer might carry a lot of weight. I think that spot is extremely valuable for me to get a second port because if I'm correct in my math, then over 2/3rds of the land in the game is only accessible by going off this east coast.
I have to run.
