How tight is this map? My money is on "not worth it."
Biggest issue is imo (with every play for a specific UU) that the other players are aware of the possibility and might take counter-measures. Like attacking you before you get your UU into play. Or you fuck it up yourself, see PBEM46 for a prime-example

Can't make coastal starts viable if there is a worker first alternative at a different city site...I think that even if there was only the plains hill forest deer, as opposed to the 5/1 deer most of the players would have moved.

Considering the regoarrarr scale of disappointment exists because of you settling coastal cities, that doesn't surprise me.

So as nice as all the frequent updates are, for my money I think I like Boldly's thread best; not just factual statements but plans and analysis, too.

Yeah, phalanx aren't Unholy Terror UUs like Preats or 'phracts, but mixed with chariots it's a little depressing to tangle with them.
