but it's so much WORK....
I do, kind of, have a plan.
let the cap grow to size 4 and work the fish and 3 mined hills. Pick up 20 hammers from chopping and it should take 10 turns. I should be able to grow big enough to be able to do a 2 pop whip of nearly 30 hammers into it at some point.
Given that someone is pulling in 9 hammers a turn, there's a pretty good chance that I'm not getting stonehenge, though... At this stage, that sounds like an industrious civ making a wonder, or someone choking growth for one. In any case, it's almost certainly a wonder build.
Could be pyramids or the lighthouse, i suppose - lighthouse is going to be very strong on this map.

If I don't get stonehenge, it's not the end of the world. I'll need to pick up a religion, though, so after pottery, it would be poly->monotheism. Org rel will be important to me - spreading relgion and getting a bonus on buildings.

ok - coherent plan time. I should get Stonehenge in 10 turns, or fail gold for stonehenge earlier I'm won't be all that upset if I get the fail gold.
I run 4 turns at 5 hammers to grow, get a forest chop, then work 11 hammers a turn for 2 turns, whip in a dog for 29 hammers overflow with another chop and then finish. or 10 turns.
If someone else is already building it, I probably get fail gold instead

Why?
More people have been to Berlin than I have.

Well, it's not critical. It's very nice to have and opens up some strategic situations I wouldn't have other wise (settlign in someones face and chopping in defenders, for instance), plus border pops are really, really good, of course.
But 120 hammers is a settler, and expansion is very important, too. If I do get it, I'll probably just build hammers/settlers for awhile.
of course, it's possible I'm just fooling myself and I'll cry if I don't get it...

No, I mean why do you want the failgold?

oh - well, I'll expand a lot. No one is imperialistic, so I can produce settlers as fast as anyone. So, failgold will help me run higher science rates.
I'd still rather have the wonder - but I'll be ok with failgold.
I think there's a decent chance that whoever else is wonder building is going after pyramids or the lighthouse - on a map like this, with a ton of food, it's really good for non-financial civs.
The failgold is a consolation prize, no doubt. I'd much rather have Stonehenge.

i found jowy!!
Jowy is pericles of khmer, which is bad, but then, he seems to have gotten screwed by the map generator - he's got a start with tundra deer in his fat cross, and I think maye more tundra in it, too. Presumably, there isn't much ivory near him.
btw - I am sure i just pissed him off - my one scout popped a hut that created the 2nd scout.
This gives me 3 scouts. I guess I'll find everyone.
He has his second city (Thessia), which I presume is to the north of him.

from doing a little digging via tech costs, I think Jowy has both masonry and sailing. If so, he's building the lighthouse..
