[SPOILER] Krill PBEM9 spoiler thread

(March 31st, 2018, 06:11)Krill Wrote: God of the Forge could be another option? 75% production from the capital with Agoge, I could just go straight military after the HS is finished and likely have something in the region of 5 warriors and 5 slingers with the gold to upgrade all of them. Would it be possible to just bum rush someone in that scenario? More likely just eat Bandar and Kumasi, and I don't think that needs GotF, does it?

I haven't tested this, and Lord knows I get these small details wrong all the time, but I found with bonus like Limes + Monarchy or Magnus + Anything in R&F that most production bonuses are multiplicative, not additive, so Agoge + GotF actually nets you an 87% bonus. If that 12% makes a difference to you.

Wut, the bonuses are multiplicative.

Christ on a crutch. I was planning to check the numbers for a brief stint in Iikum and then go into Agoge, but Jesus...does that also apply to boats?

God of the Harvest, of the Forge and Divine Spark are what make sense to me.

I don't know if I'll get Jesuit Education, but I am fairly sure I will get that or Choral Music.

Divine Spark ensures Jesuit Education, the first writer and good shot at Hypatia.

GotH gives a mid game boost to buying units with Theocracy, and if I get Jesuit Education a rapid build up up of mid game cities due to district discounts. But this seems iffy because if I miss JE I'm pigeonholed into Theocracy.

GotF gives an opportunity to rush city states that I don't wish to drop envoys into, and then hold a border against anyone else. But I may miss JE, and I wouldn't see much point in building the shrines and temples without something to dump the faith into. It appears to be the risky play but once picked no one can stop me building the units, they can just defend well.

I don't know, Divine Spark is the safety option but GotF looks baller here.

I like how I'll test for this game, but when it comes to something I want to know in PBEM5 I'm like "eh, we'll find out one way or the other" lol

So with that said, I don't think it's multiplicative:

Building Warrior with Agoge and God of the Forge and 5 Icon_Production base. Swapped into this halfway through another build to eliminate overflow.

After 1 turn: 8/40 shown
After 2 turns: 17/40 shown
If it was multiplicative you'd expect 9 and 18, because 5 * 1.87 = 9.3
If it was additive you'd expect 8 and 17, because 5 * 1.75 = 8.75

I wonder if Russia would beat you to the first religion even if you got Divine Favor. It is half price and gives a 2 great prophet points each. I don't think any other civ would legitimately be competing for am early religion with both you and Russia in the game.

But Divine Favor also helps get an extra great scientist or two along the way, so it helps with midgame science a little too.

If this was my game? I'd go GotH, and if I didn't get Jesuit Education I'd fall back on a plan B of fully enhancing my religion early with the faith.

Okay, so the rule of thumb is that if Chevalier thinks something about how chop bonuses work, it's almost certainly wrong.

Why would some bonuses be additive and some be multiplicative? huh I don't understand how anything works.

Be reasonable. It's not like the Devs actually coded anything to make sense. I'm not sure that they didn't code multiple equations per mechanic and which ones are included in each game is decided randomly when you roll the map.

Also no one has a HS yet. Without anyone fucking this up, I should finish HS eot26 and eot29 for a prophet eot43 without projects if I get Divine Spark. I'm not convinced Russia is a lock if I fight for it

Limes + Monarchy is multiplicative? I should have been paying closer attention in 5

Saw it demonstrated here. The Magnus + Limes were multiplicative (ie, 400%) and not additive (which would only be 300%). I assumed all bonuses were calculated the same way.
