Well didn't come up with the names but I think its like the vets game and the greenies game in PBEM 4. I believe the naming scheme is GE's idea? Basically, its the same map for both with the same lurker picks and the players in Pro are supposed to be the more skilled group and teh players in app are the less skilled group. I haven't played with alot of these guys nor have I read enough, (heck this is Nicloae's first pbem here) to know for sure what the skill levels are, but I'm satisfied with the group I'm in.
It should be interesting for lurkers to read both sets of threads per civilization.

From my perspective, its actually wicked annoying to try and follow both games, so I'm just following this one, mostly because I find 3 of the 4 teams interesting. (SM is a solid player, but I haven't interacted with him at all.) I do appreciate them splitting the forums this time, however.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

How many PBEMs are you currently lurking? I think it's impossible to follow them all, just too much reading. I usually end up picking 1 or 2 people in a game to follow, if I'm following it at all. Usually one in which I can actually view the pictures. DLdropbox and imageshack are blocked for me. I should probably just get a VPN to get around it, but they don't work well on macs unless you pay for one, and I'm cheap.

On a general note, I was thinking about the map setting. There are a lot of lakes, so perhaps it is a lakes map? I'll have to go check it out but can a lakes map have ocean? Maybe Seven made couple of the large lakes into oceans? I'll generate a few maps; take a look.

Dropbox is blocked in China too? That sucks, I thought it'd be okay since it's relatively new.
Anyway, I'll be only reading this thread for now, can't really read the other game either, since even your counterpart is bound to scout differently and reveal other information. I don't have enough time to lurk everything anyway, so might as well just pick one player for most games. I'm dedicated in 14 as well.

Yay for dedlurking!
Its funny, Dropbox used to work a couple months ago, but then it got blocked. So yes it was working for a while. The only common service that seems to work is Photobucket. I think these picture services are blocked because some people use them for content deemed inappropriate by the powers that be in China. Photobucket must have a stricter content restrictions that pass muster.

Define lurking? A lot of the games require little to no effort to lurk at this point (PBEM4, PBEM6, PBEM8, PBEM10.) I'm caught up on all of those, though I haven't necessarily read every thread. I'm lurking all of the FFHPBEMs, though I'm dedlurking 5 which actually greatly reduces your lurking time commitment. I haven't touched PBEM11 since you and I almost took over for Amelia (we should do a game together sometime, actually) because it moves too slow and because I thought they might eventually need a sub sometime. I stopped lurking PBEM13 a while ago when the outcome became so obvious. I'm playing 14, so I can't lurk 15. 16 is the RB mod which doesn't interest me at all. 17, I'm only reading novice/spacemans's thread, though I did participate in the map thread so I can't officially dedlurk. I'm sure I'll eventually catch up on them all again, though.
That might be the most longwinded answer to a simple question ever, but I a decent bit of free time usually and sitting in front of the computer is a great away to avoid actually spending time with the wife.
TL;DR - Almost all of them.

All right I read the thread now. I definitely think that CRE/AGG France is considerably the strongest combination in the game. Your start looks awesome though, not sure how it compares to others obviously.
So this is CTON but not AW, correct? You can still do ingame trades I assume, just not talking about it, yeah?
I'm pretty sure forested banana and jungle sheep are both normally impossible, so those must be direct edits. Should check around that area and see whether you can deduce why they (presumably) swapped the resources. Although I'm not sure I've seen forest sheep either?

Yeah, there having been alot of updates in some of the older threads. I'm not really lurking the FFH, but I have a grasp on all the ones here. As much as I can with the limited updates.

I'm actually not clear about whether we can have open borders or trades myself. I was assuming we could because the game doesn't specify AW. Still, its more likely that wars will start then not. If Seven is reading this, you want to confirm that?
The edits are interesting, and yes, all three of those are not naturally occurring. I'm thinking that it'd be best to circle around though and establish a ring of city sites. As much as I'd like to settle that area it's not a high priority because the Sheep will require IW and the banana is of corse calender. Thus my first cities will be north ad west of my capital as far as I can tell. North for fish and West for deer, fur and rice. Thats about 3 cities and gives me time to do a lot more scouting.
That said it would be nice to see what else is around the rice and dyes there. I'm considering going north on to the hill next. Then SE SE onto the dyes. Or SE NE onto the rice. Or I could skip the hill and go straight onto the rice or dyes next turn. I'm leaning towards hill, though it is possible to go E onto the grass, look out over the lake there and then go onto the hill. That may provide the most info.

Probably should circle back soon with the scout, yeah. Probably should go onto the dyes (after the hill I guess), even though that area looks annoying since it'll be hard to find breaks in the forest to use the second move.
