Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[No Players] Casual Commentary: 28 Lurkers Later

Well BGN gave me a SP game report from the map...tongue

Brick and Pin took a look and didn't have much; I sweetened the islands with stone or marble and more rivers, while adding ivory to the little IC-TR isles...don't want to ban war elephants or anything. Sent to Xenu/Cal

I liked Jowy's play in the Cataphract PBEM before he dropped out, he's definitely competitive in this field IMO. I'm not a Ragnar person though, I'm not a big fan of either Fin or Agg individually and together they feel very slow. Sumeria's main bonus is the cheap early courthouse. But this is an RtR(aka not toroidal maintenance) Monarch game and Aggressive already reduces that maintenance. He's already starting behind.

I can have a look over the map if you want, but it sounds as if it's already gone.

Could you post the updated map? I'll run it through my tool again send out the sims to each player. (unless the BFCs are unchanged, in which case I can just post them now)

edit: ah, looks like there's a problem with Fenn's start...

Finallized. Wine lack was intentional; the spice/silk/wine trios are all in 2/1/0 concentrations.

Why are you so surprised? It's handcrafted to be balanced and toroidal...

The biggest issue is that with 3 players per continent, in a game with wide variance in player skill you are going to come across the neighbour lucker factor something hard. It's like in PB18 where if my and Ruff swapped positions I think dtay would have been first player in control of their starting continent and crushed but because he had to spend so much time dealing with me being an arsehole he couldn't quite get in full control of the game.

If this map was blown up to work for 24 players the same issue would occur. OTOH for a 9 player game with close skill variance everyone is up shit creek.

Serfdom is amazing here. Curious to see if anyone figures that out.
