[PB64] Lurking Randomly

Wow, it looks like the tables have turned. Ginger is all of a sudden in deep trouble with an incoming dogpile. And without Slavery, he will have to scramble his remaining forces just to stop the bleeding. Ginger should have picked another target.
Can Commodore actually get back into the game?
He needs Dune, to raze the cap and then the next 3 Eastern cities. If he tries to keep the cap he needs to kick nauf off the continent and I don't think he can handle nauf over the full height of the map even if he has a local superiority.
What do I know maybe nauf doesn't care if the cap isn't razed. I just doubt it. I'm still a little shocked at just how well the knights worked. Maybe Ginger just didn't have enough pikes to defend before the cannon? Its a really interesting problem given 8 build queues.
Yeah, when I was looking at the combat logs SD posted, I was surprised that it seemed like there weren't any pikes at all, and just a few phalanxes. It probably didn't help that Ginger had to rebuild his stack support after the Commodore invasion.
Because this was a bigger battle. A tiny data snipped:
Superdeath's unit cost dropped from 63 down to 35. Ginger's unit cost dropped from 59 down to 37 Superdeath gained 135 WW this results in at least 1 unhappiness in every 8+ pop city and every 10+ pop city with a colloseum. Fortunate for him. He's still running Police state. With that alone he only 15+ pop cities start to be unhappy. Ginger didn't gain any WW. This all may seem very strange, but I think I have an explanation for that. Although the tile belongs to SD's culture, there should still be a significant chunk of culture from Gavagai on that tile. This Gavagai culture should be in the majority and because SD also declared war on Gavagai he got WW for fighting on an enemies tile. Ginger is not at war with Gavagai and for the purpose of calculation is considered an ally of Gavagai. Therefore the game considered him defending on an allys culture and did not give him WW. Very curious case indeed. Without the Gavagai war declaration I think SD would have gained no WW and instead Ginger would have gotten it.

Yeouch, that explanation in nauf's thread where he invaded Ginger because he thought that Ginger was sitting on his laurels not doing anything, when he just launched his shot but came up short.
More people have been to Berlin than I have.
I mean if Ginger does get powerful Nauf has the problem that Ginger eventually would get naval to contest Nauf. This way Nauf gets some long term allies hopefully and maybe 1 city at least. Checks out to me.
I fully expect Amica to attack Nauf right now though while some of his forces are elsewhere, but shall see. I'm also curious about Amica's slavery vs serfdom choice. Built entire empire for serfdom, so kind of expect that, but may think just need slavery to fight another war now. Probably depends if goes to war or not. |
Are you, in fact, a pregnant lady who lives in the apartment next door to Superdeath's parents? - Commodore |
