At a lower level, running a team and managing the day to day duties of multiple people. At a higher level, budgetary responsibility for departments in regional or national organisations.

Shame on the loss of Mehmed of Byz, I think I was a lock for Hinduism. Then again, we will never know what Bing would have rolled so it's a moot point.

Shaka of Sumeria, or Mehmed of Byz? Combat 1 on a versatile axe UU, and sword as city breakers, a way to pop borders, cheaper and easier to handle city costs versus cheaper civics, easier to set up coastal cities, easy to access happy (and a lock on religion in the capital), plus a slightly stronger knight.

I wonder what lurkers would choose? I'm not sure which I'd prefer to play, but I don't think either one is better than the other.

Shaka of Sumeria sounds more fun to me and would probably be my choice even if I suspected Mehmed/Byz was very slightly stronger. They're close enough.

I think you are right, AGG Sumeria is probably more fun in the sense that there is more to do, and may well be stronger. So close that it's not worth thinking about.

So much will come down to the availability of happy resources, but the "Best worst case scenario" do the Calendar rush: not like city maintenance should slow down the tech pace. Of course, the true worst case scenario is the island of doom that Lewwyn inhabitated in PB42 with no food or happy but I doubt anything helps in that scenario.

Thanks Q.

Observations:
  • If the plains forest 87 is not freshwater then the tile 888 is coast and I will almost certainly want a city that can overlap the two flood plains.

  • Calendar happy that is not doubled by a market, on one of the ferw two food tiles, suggests Maths>Calendar.

  • EXP with a 2 hammer plant actually puts the worker out before AH completes according to the sim I've made, but this contradicts the spreadhseet from Seven (note, I am stating I misunderstood the tech costs spreadsheet, not that the spreadsheet is wrong).

  • AH eot11, Pottery eot20.

  • The only other tile a grain could spawn on is 21, all other unseen tiles would only hold a deer.

On that note I think I move the scout 1 (uncovers 4 of the 6 unknown SiP tiles), and if there is no additional food consider wandering with the settler. If I could go straight from the worker into a granary I think I can make this work but if a grass cow is the only food resource, and I can't hook it any quicker from EXP due to tech delays then I think I'm better off trying to close the distance and AGG vulture rush someone.

Looking at this start more it just comes down to food. If there is a grain or another animal in the fog then it's somehwere between OK to good: two easy to cottage flood plains, too many forests for expansion (so make the play for Mids if there is Stone, or save for lumber mills), but I'm not sure if the tiles 44 and 43 are grass or plains forests. Best case there are four grasslands to cottage and all outer ring so easier to share and grow.

I'm not sure if every player had the settler and scout starting stacked but this is one of the times I remember PB3 and Kyan screwing himself by moving away from food he couldn't see. I can move the scout 1 (discover 4 tiles), 31 or 81 (discover 3 tiles) but there is no way to discover all of them. I wonder if this was intentional by the lurkers/Q? It does increase the risk of variance.

Given the change in the forest type I know I'm somewhere in the middle so good chance I'm surrounded and could move in multiple directions to find a victim.

Every player has the settler and the scout on the same tile.

In keeping with the random nature of the map, nothing is rigged about vision/tile placement to try and induce behaviour or particular outcomes.
