It's already built in Cherry, currently one turning Xbows apart from the occasional spear. Just waiting on Theo for 10XP units. Needs a market and 5 more pop to be maxed out at 36hpt with merc. That would be 8 knights every 9 turns.

That barb city finally grew to size 2 end of T154 and I've just captured it this turn. And Bing has built SoZ and offered me 1 gold. I need a couple more turns to get SP to a whippable position, if I lose that I am going to reconsider tech paths and how to take out Bing, as it is I think I need to be slightly more cautious due to Thoths position in the tech tree relative to Guilds.
Apple is building a monastery for +10% beakers; Bing has two confucian missionaries coming my way and I only needs three more spreads. After that there is nothing to do but recover the whipped population and prepare for Bureaucracy. Walls are down to ready for a potential castle (screw up on my part with prioritising which cities got religion first plus not realising Bing had Aesthetics).
Squeaky bum time. Whip ASAP then go for library into NE. The Zigg was a mistake, it should have been a forge and now I'm paying the price for not forward planning. This mistake actually impacts all future turn deadlines due to delaying wonders and great people.
One turn military and maximise growth. Market when desired, castle ASAP, protect at all costs so I need to stuff it full of units for when Commodore gets feisty. That means I need to have a stack in position, not in potentia or elsewhere.
Going to lose one grass farm to Apple soon, and the city will stagnate. Really need CS to relieve the pressure on growth, but when push comes to shove Pomegranate will probably be whipped back to the ground to replenish lost catapults (I'm still light on cats). At this point I have to acknowledge I am low on workers and need another 5 or so just to chain farm the giant plains area. Once forge is done there is nothing left to build except units so I can probably get enough workers before CS is in.
Goddamn you Bing, I really needed Parthenon to be secure Rhubarb against Stauntons multiple wonder culture. Assuming I trigger the GA in a few turns (once I've built up more of a bank roll and get Monarchy for immediate revolt into Serfdom) then Sistine lands around T170. Now I have research vision on Bing I should not get blindsided again. That said, borders pop in 10 turns and I should not lose the inner ring by that point. After that point...who knows? I'll want to farm the three plains tiles after CS lands, and probably windmill the hills if I stick in Serfdom (doubt it as Thoth went back to slavery). Not going to get much out of Rhubarb for a while given the wonder build and militarily it demands a castle and defensive units. Right now it's a hammer sink.
Workers after the forge, maybe? Or possibly worker>monastery>worker?
I...don't know why I interrupted the forge build?
After the library (double whipped, preparation for Merc) I'll probably then start preparing for double whips of catapults to overflow out a forge. I still expect the game to last long enough for the forge to more than pay back the hammer cost, and I want to delay actually building units to reduce unit costs so it feels reasonable.
Porbably get two of hte five wanted workers out of here (alternative option after the forge: get a catapult and WE to one turn from completion and await Theo. Problem: likely to lose hammers to decay. Just get the workers.
Less bothered about maximising food, more bothered about getting the Zigg out ASAP to save gold, possibly via double but this only saves four turns, probably better to just grow to use all the forests and iron mine for a tasty 14hpt city, and then I will consider if I have time for a forge (or more realistically grab walls at that point to prepare for the castle). Monastery to manage culture also feels right, but might get pushed to build units and hence will need the barracks.
Forge next, and then going to drag the workers here to farm everything. Steal all the food, grow it as large as I can. 12fpt, 13 with CS. Windmill the hills not currently improved, and once up to size decide if I want to move over to cottages and all windmills (max 9 and 4 respectively) or a production city (28hpt-ish pre forge). It's actually easier and not much worse from a hammer perspective to use basic windmills, even without serfdom.
I need to get Carrot to size 3 (two spice and the horse) and then focus on Potato. Don't really care what happens here so probably get a monastery to deal with the potential scenario of Thoth taking out Yuri.
Walls into Monastery. Defend Potato from naval invasion from Commodore.
Not much to say. Just another production queue.
Deer for another health resource. Oh yeah, this is why I'm building that missionary.

Commodore is research Divine right whilst generating 156gpt.That has to be wealth builds.
He is going for Paper and UoS. And Thoth is heading for Aesthetics.
Meanwhile, Yuri cancelled OB with me and has accepted horse and a happy from Commodore. It has cost me 3gpt, but more importantly I'd be concerned if Thoth was going to hit me from that angle. With his tech path, it's not really an issue.
I have been bumbling along since taking over superdeaths cities, but now I have a plan. More on that later once I pull the trigger.

I'm going to give a full update next turn with city run down because I'm going to trigger my GA with the music artist.
I got SP, had to 4 pop whip, but Bing did a big 5 pop whip after generating a merchant (missed out on a prophet again) and that could only be SP.
Thoth bulbed Paper with a GS, so he wants Sankore, and Commodore remains on DR saving gold. Pin remains broke even with a shrine, and my situation is not getting better. I need Bureau, grocers banks and Mercantilism ASAP.
Or to steal Sankore.

What is the expected value you will get from Paya? Plans for Theo / Pacifism / early Free Religion?

Current plan for Free Religion at the start of the GA, along with Serfdom and blitz out CoL amd Civil Service. Going to utilise wealth builds. Aim is CoL end of the second turn with maximum overflow and do the same with Civil Service so I can one turn Paper or Feud depending on if I get a high odds GE foe Sankore. That outcome influences the civics at the end given I would then struggle to get a second golden age.

It's a Friday night. It's been a naff week, and a good week for different reasons, but I've got some time to put together an openeing GA turn report.
Opening gold at max tax: 56gpt (pathetic).
Short analysis of these demographics: I will go bankrupt if I build and use a real army, but my army as it stands is enough to control the game and enforce peace. I can't go on the offensive (even if I wanted to) until I build a better gold generation base. But for all these truths, there is a larger truth: everyone else is worse off than me, has less room to expand and grow, less resources to use, fewer units and I'm not even sure these oother civs can reach knights without spending 30 turns building wealth.
Post GA, pre-revolt max tax: 152gpt (but without citizen reallocation).
This is slightly better than I was expecting when I've been planning this GA out over the past two weeks, but to be expected because I planned to trigger the GA a bit earlier.
The GNP might be scary to the other players. Not sure what any of them could plan to do about it? But I am about to revolt to Serfdom which generates about 30 commerce per turn and yet always makes other players believe that they can do something.
I was planning to use Free Religion, but I counted hammers and came to the conclusion that OR lets me easily get out the last two missionaries I need and generates more excess hammers to build wealth than FR will generate beakers.
Serfdom as stated generates around 30 commerce per turn and I'm considering if I want to use it longer term. I need five more settlers and missionaries to fill out all my land, but there are all cities with either no food resources, steal grassland farms or food tiles from other cities which are still growing. I need to time settling them with time to Mercantilism.
More to follow.

Serfdom is already real good in CtH if the terrain allows. I'd pick it in a heartbeat in a version of the game where whipping is nerfed (is that on this version of RtR?)
