PBEM 31, pushing comfort zones.

So, with the advent of PB7 there might not be a ton of interest, but here's my idea for a new PBEM. I think it'd be best to have four or five players just for turn pace reasons.

Basically, I was thinking an AW game on some sort of Pangaea or Lakes-style map, with civs and leaders lurker-chosen, from a ban list of traits and civs the players have already played with on RB. So my combo would be a leader lacking:
[strike]Fin
Org,
Exp,
Chm,[/strike]
and probably Spi/Agg, although a duel is pushing it to be fair.
and excluding the civilizations of:
[strike]Mongolia
HRE
Carthage[/strike]

Ideally preference would be given to less used leaders, too, that list excludes neither Pericles nor Louis, but both of them have been seen a bunch of times. Obviously this would be a fair amount of decision-making on the part of the mapmaker too, as the final decider. Would anyone be interested in this concept?

And here's the final listings:

Always War.
No barbs
No huts
No Spies
No Nukes
No SoZ
No WE
No events
No religious victory, but AP is fine.

Players, emails at the usual place:
Ginger Eagle: (gingereagle1969)
Kyan: (peterofindia)
Dazedroyalty: (dazedroyalty)
Ceiliazul: (Ceiliazul.rb)
Commodore: (Commodore.RB)

I'd be up for this game. Let's see, what have I played before?

Traits:
Financial
Organized
Creative
Protective

Civs:
HRE
Babylon
Russia

The idea of having lurkers/map makers pick traits is an interesting idea. However, we'd have to decide in advance if we were going to try for a reasonably balanced game or a more PB7 style game which was focused on fun with luck being a big factor. Otherwise this set up penalizes the guy who has played more games and benefits the new comer (as Krill's post demonstrates). If balance isn't a big deal, that changes the way I'd want to set up the game.

I'd hope that the mapmaker can come up with something reasonably balanced...that being said, if someone on the green end of the scale gets a slightly stronger trait set because of the exclusions, that might in its own way be a balancing factor.

That's very true. Since I've never played EXP, I shouldn't complain! lol

Philosophical x 2
Expansive

Good thing I browsed the site for the first time this year ... lol

I'd be up for testing myself against the gods. Still very Green as only played 2 PBEMs, as Shaka of Inca & Augustus of China, and finished last both times.

So, traits-wise, that cuts out;

Imperialistic
Industrious
Expansive
Aggressive

and, civ-wise;

Inca
China
PBEM12 - Shaka of Inca [6/6*] PBEM18 (Apps) - Augustus of China [4/4*] PBEM31 - Hannibal of Greece [jnt2-4/5*] PBEM72 - Willem of Oranje - Dutch [3/4*] PBEM74A -Catherine of Babylon [4/4][*ended early]

So if everyone is in, we've got 4 yes? Kyan, Commodore, Gingereagle1969 and myself. So we just need to discuss settings then. Do we want the "standard" style of game with no barbs, huts, etc. or a more PB7 style?

Cool, that'd be a fine set, and again, with GE's greenness it'd work out fin for him to be the Fin player. thumbsup I was looking at the bog-standard no huts, no events, etc, but I'm flexible either way. This isn't going to be a srs bidness kind of game for me, just looking to have fun and try out something I haven't tried before in the PBEM format.

I'd be in favor of:

No barbs
No huts
No Spies
No Nukes
No SoZ
No WE

Map and civ/leader combos up to the map maker.
