Description:
Mostly Harmless and I just concluded a short lived duel (he walked into my capital before I could get a warrior built) and have decided we'd both like to play another PBEM but would like to increase player size to be 4-5 while keeping the "spirit" of a duel. That is, we'd like to have a casual yet committed PBEM game. We are aware that "casual but committed" is a difficult line to walk. Casual means that we don't expect to play 5 turns a day, but committed means we do expect to play 1 turn a day. Casual means that we're most interested in a fun experience but committed means we do want to win and will play well. So, we're looking for 2-3 other players who would be interested in a similar experience. While we do not intend to be mean or elitist, we will reserve the right to only accept other players who we believe can play "casual but committed."

Sounds kind of interesting, and I would be into this with a couple additional:
At least a little leader/civ banning...even with just the must haves of Pacal/Willem/India/Inca out I'd be happy. More bans are fine too.
-Nukes banned
-WE banned or hard to get at least
If that's not your vision, no worries, I'll cheerfully lurk.

Would be glad to have you play, Comm. I am fine with those bans as well. I've never actually played MP with elephants so I'm just taking it on faith they are really that bad. As to nukes, I am against them I just wasn't even thinking about the modern era.

I'm interested! I haven't launched BTS for months, if that counts for something.

I don't think that will be a problem. I hadn't launched BTS in months before starting a duel a week or so ago.
So the roster so far is:
1. Mostly Harmless
2. Dazedroyalty
3. Commodore
4. Nicolae Carpathia
We can add up to one more if we desire, but we have enough to start. So I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on a map. I would personally prefer either 1) mirrored and/or Seven's scripts OR 2) a skilled map maker who can balance well using novice's tool and common sense.
Also, I don't know everyone's time zone by heart so post your zone so we can set the play order. We will then either have someone (mapmaker?) randomly pick who goes first or we can base it off the snake pick order if folks feel like that is preferable. I would vote for random choice who goes first.
We'll give it 24 hours more to see if a 5th player is interested while we start weighing in on map and setting up turn order.

No preference with respect to the map, as long as some balance is present.
What's Seven's script btw?
Random choice sounds good.
As for rustiness, my only activities are the ongoing ISDG and the 8 turn Blitz knock out against dazed.

Either is fine for script, even a random map with Novice's Start Balancer would be okay with me (still needs checking, naturally).

I don't think I have everyone's email. If you want to post it or email me or chat me (johnmark1107 at the usual) or post here.
mh, Seven's script is a really cool map script that creates a mirrored start for each player while putting all players equal distant from each other. I don't know the mathematical description for what it is but I can try to post some pictures of what it looks like when I get home if you'd like. In the meantime, it's the script that creates maps like those used in PBEM32 ( http://realmsbeyond.net/forums/showthread.php?tid=4726) and PBEM 39 ( http://realmsbeyond.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?fid=117) but without the special starts and random tile improvements. I'm sure there are other games that use it but I'm drawing a blank at the moment.

Also, I'd welcome anyone that wanted to play on my team with me if anyone is interested but not fully ready to commit.
