I would say that now this has finally come to pass, it might have been more interesting to see team Spullarise decide how best to combat a possible T2 CV.
That being said, I hope T2 doesn't mess up and this is indeed the last turn
Can't wait for the post game threads.

If ASM did somehow manage to misclick and settle artists instead of culture bombing or whatever, surely they would be justified in asking for a reload? I mean, I'd reload my turn in any PBEM game where I did something like that, and I would never complain should someone have to do the same.

Yeah, it's rough watching. On the bright side, I think pretty much everyone who ever plays at RB will forever to aware of the CV possibility from here...

I just find it immensely satisfying and exciting when people do well with novel strategies.
To all you people suggesting that a cultural victory is cheesy and should perhaps be banned: What a ridiculous notion. If the game were to be played over, I guarantee no one could win the way team 2 did this time. Novelty was an essential part of their plan. It's SO not overpowered (though it may be a real part of the metagame). Banning it would be like banning Rock from all future RPS games because it's too good against Scissors.

Actually, that Sulla quote makes me feel a lot better that the lurkers didn't step in. Note crucially he's assuming that if T2 is wrong about the mechanics the lurkers would not have corrected them.

Clearly, you are a total Rock/Paper/Scissor newb.
Pease for the love of god let's not resurrect the merits of T2's approach. Even I acknowledge the fact it was a) not banned, and b) pursued from the start makes it completely valid. That said, there is no chance I would play in an AW game that had Culture or Space enabled, nor would I play in a regular game that had Diplomatic enabled. I don't mind it if other people want to, but it's not my cup of chimarrão ![[Image: nope.gif]](http://forums.civfanatics.com/images/smilies/nope.gif) .

The fact of the matter is that this game would have progressed very differently had T1 recognized the threat of a cultural victory. I'm no expert, but wouldn't T1 stopping the CV help Team 3 more? After all, if they're building military instead of factories and power plants, that just ends up giving T3 more time to leverage their land advantage, and IIRC the spoils of war from taking out T2 would favor T3, would it not?
Whatever the case, I find myself enjoying this game specifically because of how T2 'disrupted' the game. The fact that they, in all likelihood, have succeeded, just makes it all the more fun. Of course, seeing a modern war would have been nice, but hey, you can't have everything

Krill and I were debating this in chat; he seemed to think the 10K in hammers was at least equal to the beaker and infrastructure difference between T1 and T3, but I do not. We'll never know for sure.

It's not just that, it is that T1 would have had to invest in an army at a bad time for them to stop a CV. I think there are a bunch of reasons that T1 wouldn't have had a clear cut lead if they had understood what was happening and acted appropriately: T3 still had GA to catch up with, T1 needed to invest in an army and not infrastructure, slightly different techs paths etc. I don't think T3 would have been in the lead, but I do think they would have had a real chance of winning.

I agree. I wish people would stop kicking Sullla while he's (soon to be) down. I know why people are doing it, and I get it. But I feel bad for him.
