GES, I have to say, you wrote that message as a perfect reply without even seeing what Paper Cut had written.

Reply from Paper Cut:
Quote:Dear TEAM,
We are somewhat surprised by your decision to beeline Divine Right; that is certainly a novel strategy. Do not think we will be intimidated by your spiralling minarets, however. Although our scout was disposable, there are plenty more razors where he came from.
Sincerely,
Team Gillette

LOL, I wish they had sent their long, friendly message so we could've replied with insanity wolf.
I went ahead and sent a short message to the Pirates.

Have we sent them a map?

No. We should get something rounded up soon, because Nakor says Pindicator is on it for them.

I have pristine new SSs from this turn. I'll send them to Davy and CC: Nakor and Luddite.
Also we have met the Trolls.

Scooter came to me trying to initiate real diplomacy. Given that we have gotten along well in past games, he knows that I am usually a voice of reason. Well, as you will see, not in this case:
Quote:scooter: so... jihad? any particular reason?
me: Is this official communication?
scooter: sure why not?
me: Officially, all I have to say is: Durka, durka, Muhammad, jihad!
scooter: haha

Proposed message to the Trolls:
Quote:Team Trolls,
I am sure you will see several different modus operandi for diplo this game. Lord Parkin will likely send you novellas filled with self-congratulatory prattle and not so subtle sycophancy. With 7 & scooter's team, I would generally suggest keeping a close hand on your wallet, because as they butter you up with hours of chat logs, they will be robbing you blind. The Pirates, well honestly, they seem like decent enough chaps.
And then there is us. Let's cut the BS. You want to win and we want to win. And no doubt, at some point, those purposes will be contradictory. But I would suggest that our teams should have close diplomatic relations. We are going to keep diplo as short and direct as possible. Most of us are too lazy for intensive Civ strategy talk, let alone useless diplo nonsense. And if it isn't completely obvious, we simply don't have much use for double talk. You have probably heard from Team Paper Cut (since EP suggests you guys are old friends) that we are raving lunatics. But we simply see ourselves as pretty straight up players. Rather than go through a charade, we just decided to go always war with a team we would rather not work with.
We have been waiting to meet you guys because we thought all along that you would probably be honest enough guys to work with, and because we could live with a Trolls victory if you out played us. In addition, it appears our teams are pretty far apart, so there is no obvious reasons for border tensions.
If you are interested in a screenshot exchange, we have the north scouted out very well. The only caveat is that our screens do not get passed around to other teams. Thoughts?

 @ message to scooter.
I'd not include the bit about AW to Trolls. Mostly because they might pass it along and repeated attempts by the Papercuts to figure out why we're being such assholes will no doubt be hilarious.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Hmmm. I'm not sure about giving them SS of scouted territory. Don't want them to know about that stone. Honestly I'm think if we could settle straight south we could then block off a lot of land between the two nations.
I do like the idea of working with them as best as possible. Though tbh they are likely the ones we will attack based on geography.
