Yeah, I don't have any problems telling that to the Trolls, but I do think the hilarity of repeated diplo attempts would trump all. I mean, haven't we all pretty much decided to just play this game in such a way to maximize hilarity?

I do like the idea of working with them as best as possible. Though tbh they are likely the ones we will attack based on geography.
OK, I am fine with not exchanging screens. That is everybody's call.
And I agree that they are the most likely victims for us, considering geography. I really do think we should try to maintain good relations with Pirates, so that makes attacking Trolls almost a necessity. I REALLY REALLY wish Gillette or Parkin was south of us.

Yeah me too it would make our warrior appearing on their borders so much more delicious.
I want to be friendly with them, but its going to be tough. This will be our trickiest diplo. We will need to seem accomodating while we grab the bulk of the land between us. Then use our land advantage to crush them...
I'm very curious to see how Gillette interacts with their two neighbors. I think if Pirates successfully pink dots Animal Sex we should warn the Trolls that Gillette is about to poach extra land from Animal sex since they are in battle with the pirates maybe get the Trolls to focus on expanding that direction.
Additionally they explored West before North. That means their initial dotmaps will be in that direction. Hopefully we can groom that notion. One way would to be to not provide maps.
I would tell the Trolls that we are "currently" at war with Gillette. I wouldn't mention AW. And I would also tell them we have no intention of choking a neighbor of Gillette, or something like that. Strong solidarity. However, we are not sharing our maps with anyone. So we lie about how close we are with pirates.
Ahh Diplo machinations... You've created a monster.

We rush the trolls. We do not give them an inch, we cut of their land and limit their cities. We force them to focus on stuff other than wonders.

Do we want to be friendly in diplo in the interim though, especially since we are basically AW with Paper Cut?

We could ask them to tell us how far Gillette is and which direction and tell them we're sending our warrior at them. Basically treat them like a nice bystander for now.
I don't see a reason we can't keep things cordial.

I don't see a reason they can't smile right up until the moment we stick a knife in them. Oh yes yes yes we'd love to be friends. Until we don't want to be friends anymore stabs. End scene.

Just to expand on this, there's really no point in our relationship with the Pirates if we don't aim to screw our other neighbor. The Parkinphiles and Papercutters are irrelevant to us for a long time so it really doesn't matter how dickishly we treat them.
While I support entertaining ourselves in diplo first, second and third we'll have more fun ultimately by being dicks and winning.
