Krill - you are totally forgetting the 2 or 3 turns that I played. Before those turns, you were middle of the pack, after them - it was almost a lay down misere.:neenernee
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

892bpt eot, increase of 3.4%. Still lower than the Uk' rate of inflation...I'm going to tech Rifling in 2 without overflow. Cyneheard is teching PP now (smart lad), due in 2, so I assume last turn getting Paper in 2 was to hide research ability. Highest bpt Cyneheard could have is 600 base bpt if he was being really tricky, but I suspect he is at something close to 500 bpt. Kylearan is getting Edu in 6-7. Not a great choice...I think Cyneheard is heading to Rifles which, frankly, is probably the smartest thing he could do.
And Ruff, I'll remember your contributions in the post game thread...

spacemanmf Wrote:Nice teching the capital. And that's without an Academy or Bureaucracy. Wow. Are you heading for a GS soon?
Hmm, popped a GS at 20% odds. It's currently worth 45 base bpt as an Academy at max tech, so, assuming 70% slider (I'm actually slightly better than that) it is worth 31-32 bpt (cottage growth, windmills going up).
And eot I'm at 914 bpt. By eot t123 I could feasibly be at 1000bpt. Damn. And I am about 24 adjusted beakers shy of getting Mil Trad in 1 due to overflow, or would be if I had Music. Double Damn. Now re-evaluating tech path.
Also put a sentry chariot on a hill and can see sunrise has a mere musket and spear in his front city, but he knows I can't reach them, so that has to be a bluff and he has units hidden somewhere.
Edit, by my cals, Rifling t122, Constitution t123, Democracy t125, revolt t126 after drafting 3 rifles, and I can revolt to 3 civics in 1 turn, so Rep/Emancipation/Theo or FR. Do I give up a turn for faster teching and cottage growth and to save my first GA until I want it? Rep is worth 56 bpt now, maybe more as cities grow and I have no tiles to work. Emancipation is worth =...I don't know how much, but speeds up the date at which I can use that first GA, so is a snowball item, but possibly as much as 25 commerce per growing cottage over time? FR would be worth 60 bpt, but requires a swap out of religion...not worth it. Except I have a lot of cottages. And I really want them to be towns.

eot 936 bpt, Rifling in, Cyneheard is 3 turns from RP at max research but he lacks the gold, sunrise about 3, maybe 2 turns from PP.
I'm reconsidering the usage of cav now, but I'm waiting to see if Cyneheard and sunrise go revolt to Nationhood in due couse. That'll lower their teching speed...I'm not sure, but I think I might take too long to get the required techs to start an invasion of Cyneheard.

Hmm, another idea: trigger an early GA, use the first turn to run Bureaucracy plus Rep plus FR. That GA, Bureaucracy and Academy should boost the capital to over 500 bpt. If I trigger the GA once I get Democracy, and my hammer city has grown fully (another 2 pop), then that should help push out SoL a little bit sooner. This would mean an early GA.
The other option is to just wait until I have the Kremlin finished and then trigger the GAs one after another and laugh at everyone getting blown away in tech (I'll be expecting something like 1750bpt at that point if I have observatories down in major cities).
However...If I get 1 GG I might be able to raze sunrises front city with a single Cav. Something to keep in mind for the future.

Went with the Academy, as it gives better long term options.
eot, 1007bpt, -127gpt. Constitution researched in 1. I have 4 turns worth of 100% research left before I have to save gold, and I will complete grocer in capital, Bank TrlRiversidblus and BronYstomp, and Market in NoQuarter, so will be making an easy 550gpt, enough for 80% research at breakeven.
Oh, and I got espionage visibility on sunrises front city this turn 4 cats, 4 muskets, 2 cuirs, 2 spear, 2 axe...enough to annoy me if he invaded? No. I'd have 10 drafted rifles at the front if he invaded next turn, and I'd be able to research both Engineering, Democracy, generate a new GP from either Economics or naturally, trigger a GA, revolt to US and buy castles in both my front cities to piss off the catapults. Not that I'd bother with gunpowder units in play. I'd just research Music>MT>Engineering (only 3 turns), move my HA over to sunrise, upgrade to Cav and slaughter. I'd build wealth to afford the upgrade.

eot t136 is current eta for Communism via al ong beeline. 13 turns for Democracy, Music, MT, Eng, Econ, Chem, SM, Communism. Including 2 turns of saving gold, without improving bpt or GA.
This should be fun...

Penny is definitely a good player, but there is a big problem: Indiansmoke doesn't, AFAICT, know the truly great players, and having him as the gate keeper to such a game is something I'm not particularly interested in. That and I don't have the time to dedicate to a game atm. I'd rank sunrise and IS at a similar skill level.
FWIW, if I were to play in a game like that, I'd want to be playing against, in no particular order, DaveMcW, Aeson, UnconqueredSun, Friedriech, some of the old RaY members...

I drafted 3 more rifles (6 total, I'm wondering whether I should draft many more), but sunrise moved up a medic 3 Quechua behind his city, another GG and some more junk cats. But behind his city they aren't a threat to me and I'm not really interested in moving into his culture unless I can take out his city with a 3 move Cav.
He did move a sentry Cuir under his G1 muskets on the grass forest hill. I'm still not interested in removing them, because I still have an avenue of attack from the FoW that sunrise can't see. I only need 10 more GG points to get a GG...
eot 1015bpt, Democracy due in 1 with about 80 base beakers overflow. Interestingly enough Whosit research Compass last turn and is onto Optics this turn, so I'm going to have to divert to Astro shortly. sunrises' GA finished and he is onto Fued...and he did not revolt to NH which showshe will stick with Cuirs and their ability to flank away cats, trebs (which I can't build anyway due to lack of Engineering) and Cannons. If I drafted down rifles every turn I could pretty much wreck him, but why would I do that? Why waste 20% of my population on rifles to wreck one city? When the only 3+ turn techs in the next 40 turns for me are the deep Ind era techs? And I still have Observatories, FR, FS and US to add.
Nationhood is a waste, sometimes. I'm getting itchy fingers for Communism.
