I'm just glad to see it seems to still be a game. Pindicator, chumchu, Mr. Cairo, OT4E, and Nyles all seem still relevant. Not sure on the others, but that's mostly because I'm not reading their threads as avidly, not because I think they're out of it.
Partly that's because of OT4E's odd choice to go Police State; I know he's got to finish off Wetbandit at some point, but he's giving up a lot of potential by not going for Representation.
Still, I think in general there are a lot of teams who still have a shot, no matter if they conquered someone or not.
Also, greenline, I thought you should consider this:
Pindicator Wrote:P.S. The way metal happiness was balanced on this map is .... odd. Rather, it's the most obviously unbalanced thing in a very balanced map
After accounting for the standard bias, that's high praise!

If the metal is obviously unbalanced I've made a mistake. There should be a source of gold near enough to pindicator that he can compete for it. What I suspect is he just hasn't found it yet. Shouldn't be a huge deal either way.
Dcodea not getting a plains hill cap was inexcusable from my part, though

My point is simply that if that's the worst complaint he has, after defogging most of the map, then it's really a well-balanced map. Even if it did shock people with neighbors closer than they expected.
True, there are errors, but there are always errors.

On the game front - Holy Cow, Mr. Cairo's Zulu are running way way behind on tile improvements. Looking at all those coast tiles being worked, when he has bare grasslands sitting at just about every city. I get that the MoM is powerful and he wants it, but...wow, he needs like 20 cottages yesterday.

I don't think a missing gold is the most unbalanced thing on this map...

Nicolae has HBR, and is on Construction(3t). My only copper is 2t from my border with him. Explorations south to fix that have been useless (though I did find a horse at least).
I don't see why he'd choose a target other than me, and without metal I can't even die a noble death.
And 45 minutes later I realized what else I was missing, had to login and check.
It's not just cats and ponies. Nic has Ivory. So in 3t he'll have Jumbos, and if I beeline them now, I'm 13-ish turns away from them. Dude...go begging for copper! Take Pindicator, for instance...he's got two coppers, you've got a trade connection, he would really really hate for you to die right now. There's probably 2-3 more neighbors who'd be happy to spare a copper just to keep you alive a couple more turns.

I'm wondering if he has a way of getting a GP for a shrine on this map, maybe a mixed odds GP/GE (for Taj or Shrine).

Does anyone even bother building HS in these games to begin with?

The only ways I can see that would work would be building AW, or building Paya + temples and running priests in a city (maybe the one with oracle? dunno if it has any other wonders polluting the gp pool).

There are some thresholds, especially on Quick speed, where the extra worker speed is relevant (1t for roads and 2t for most improvements on a setting, notably forest chops which still take 3t by default). Hagia Sophia being quite pricy on an awkward tech makes it a less common play. Maybe he's keen on the GE points?
