[PB29 Spoiler] In which Joey, then mackoti, swing happy go lucky

Fin/Imp by us
Fin/Cre by Tsargon - a very surprising pick, I thought he'd go for something more aggressive as a budding psychogamer
Imp/Org by Borsche - makes sense, Org is his favorite trait and I know he's been frustrated by his slower-starters in PB27/PB28 and also in bgpb4
Pro/Ind by Haram - makes me relieved we didn't go for Joao, as I had a feeling this guy would show up somewhere. Truly nobody can chop out the henge like Qin makes me think that our starts aren't mirrored in some way, as I didn't think ours would be particularly apt for Pro.

speculations: someone will pick genghis (imp/agr), as I still think that's a natural synergy. I just felt kinda dirty picking agr. I have a feeling that we might see either Saladin (Pro/Spi) or Justinian (imp/spi) from TBS, but its hard to say with him at the bottom of the draft. "Scipio" likes, AFAIK, Imp, Org, Ind, Fin, and Pro; half of those combos are taken or non-existant, but Imp/Ind (Augustus), Fin/Ind (HC), Fin/Pro (The Wangster), and Ind/Org (Rosey the Rosevelter) and Fin/Org (Darius) are all still open. Jowy likes Cre, so maybe Kublai, Gilgamesh or Catherine? Wetbandit....... maybe a Cha civ? perhaps a Washington of Inca redux?

Inca IS kind of tempting... we'd want an early granary with this start, but wouldn't necessarily want to veer into Pottery, and a shot at a shrine wouldn't be a bad idea either, what with our plethora of gold multipliers... gotta see what others pick though.

speaking of Myst civs, I had the random thought that the Indian FW would be really good for this start, especially for a Pro civ, to get the Ivory and the plainshill improved without hassle. Unfortunately, without Pro it would delay the worker by 3 additional turns, meaning that the first FW costs an additional 6 FH. No thanks!

Our updated sim, btw. I changed our civ to Portugal on a whim, but only because Fishing is cheaper than TW. I realized I didn't check our tech timings very well for the start I googledoc-simulated, so I'm going to do that now.

Hmmm, BW won't come before 2nd city unless we grab mining/wheel (Mali), and otherwise we only have one of Pottery (ideally) or AH (if necessary for 2nd city's food) but not both. That's nothing surprising I guess. Inca can work to essentially give us both, but drastically delays both TW AND BW if we happen to need AH for our fast settler. (always an issue for Imp) At any rate, going for a very early religion seems like a big gamble as it slows down BW quite a lot and may force us into a crappier 2nd city, which is too bad as a shrine would be really so nice...

Jowy takes India... hmm. Looking again, the Indian FW is only 70 hammers, not 75. I guess I just misremembered. That gives him a 12T worker instead of a 10T, not as bad. With Prod, that woulda been a 10T FW, very nice. Interestingly, Jowy's the only one who didn't take an early game trait, and that's on top of the FW handicap... hopefully that means he'll be focusing on expansion and economic development, and not bumrushing his nearest neighbor, heh.

edit: I'm genuinely laughing really really hard. to fill people in here, Cyrus of Khmer was what I played in the first ToW PB, PB20, and everyone gave me shit then about it then, for picking a weak civ like Khmer first in the snakepick after panicking about my dual-pasture start. here big mack picks it just for kicks I think. I still think its a really good combo, FWIW.

double edit: regarding him playing a smurf: I do not mind at all. I specifically invited him to the game via PM, so he can do it however he wants.
