I think I'd like to give this a shot, sure.

No I'm not playing. Then if anybody experiences a bug I can log into that account and maybe get some more infos about that bug.

Similar here - one post in 4 years before this month.  It's good to be back.

Want a general strategy dedlurker?  Can't guarantee that I can give the time to help crunching numbers or doing micro, but I can help bounce ideas around.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

That would certainly be helpful. I've also added all signups so far to the first post.

Sure, that sounds fine.   Also, I totally hit report post instead of reply, so sorry to merovech and moderators!  There's nothing to report, other than AT has fat fingers.

I'm up for a teamer, 2v2v2v2, or a 3v3 or a 4v4. I'm up for a later era start if people want that. I'm not that fussed about map script, with the except of hub: I'd rather play Wheel, Ring or, at a push Inland sea. Another choice which can be fun in a teamer is a Highlands based script, but they require a lot of work to make playable. Any multiparty game could be a lot more fun if people want to actually talk in sub fora like with PB6.

I'm also fine with a standard FFA, but a 4v4 medieval game would probably be a lot quicker to run a test on.

What’s your reasoning against hub? I’ve played a few times in ladder style games and it seemed ok - wheel doesn’t seem to be much of an improvement unless there’s something I’m missing.
I don’t think a 4v4 would be a good idea - the former two options are preferable.

Edit/Clarification:

I'm not sure how teamers here would be played. If no communication is allowed even between teammates, then there's no real downside to a 4v4. (Also, how would turn splits work then... one side is perpetually second/first? Mandate switching turn halves every so often? bleh).

If communication between teammates is allowed, a 4v4 would probably be slower than a full diplo game of the same size just due to the desire for everyone to be in agreement on research and further plans.
Then, 3v3 would be more reasonable, as would 2v2v2v2 (the latter would be nice on an inland sea map).
