[SPOILERS] Four Score & Seven Dynasties Ago: Pindicator plays Lincoln of China

Thanks Krill. This is definitely the game I'm putting most of my effort into, which is funny since the other games are supposed to be the "competitive" ones. Oh well.

Azza let the turn roll out, so that sucks for him. Yet we do have a new turn...

Turn 090

Sure enough, there was no lost coin flip and we did pull out Hanging Gardens. This gave me 8 population, plus 1 to grow on -- that is, 1 that I grew into :neenernee. A lot of score but still not enough to catch our score leaders. Even with those new bodies in the fields, I'm still not the crop yield leader any longer. I'm pretty sure that sunrise is our new food champion.

Speaking of sunrise, here he is:

You can tell that he was trying to be sneaky here by the direction his scout is facing: moving toward my border and then back with his scout, so I wouldn't know he had been there. Smart move by him, but I got lucky and my scout just happened to be headed towards him on the same turn. Now, while the sneakiness is a tad unsettling, it's a good sign that he's scouting me with a scout and not say a war chariot. I think that shows (relatively) peaceful intent. I also like that his scout is heading back NW. I'm hoping he doesn't know about the flood plains and corn just E of it, because I want that city for my own. I plan on having a settler up there right as Currency comes in.

But he now knows Thwomp is defended by 1 spear and 1 badly wounded axe. I plan on changing that shortly:

A spear finished in Birdo and is heading north, and two more spears are being built in the capital and Hammer Bros. I think I will keep the garrison in Thwomp at 3 spears and an axe, and the spear in Hammer Bros will go east to the Moogle border.

Currency is roughly due in 12 turns. I can tech it in 8 at full research but that will cost me 332g. But I'm finishing libraries in my commerce cities soon: I plan to have them up in time for turning on the slider, so hopefully we can get that down a turn or two. After Currency we'll pick up Archery and then head on to Metal Casting. Hopefully we can get MC done right about when the Great Engineer pops out of Goomba. The only issue is fitting in HBR & Iron Working.

Demos still look good, even if I'm not tops in food any longer:

Turn 091

Temple of Artemis has been built. Hopefully by somebody looking indiscriminately for a great person and not by someone wanting trade multipliers. Also in this picture: why SleepingMoogle just bumped himself up to #1 on the potential victims list.

I was only considering sunrise because of his religion. But if Moogle has a religion, and is a civ that doesn't have a 1-city border, and is a civ doesn't have War Chariots. How can you say no to that?

Up north, I followed sunrise's instructions. Really want to stay on that guy's good side. Not only because I want to keep my fighting to one front at a time, but that guy is fending off FIN/ORG Rome and FIN/CHM Mali. He needs one safe front so he can focus on those guys.

And then there's the barbarians: I forgot to mention, but last turn I lost my 7xp W2 warrior to a barb warrior. Cleaned it up with a chariot this turn and now i have my first sentry chariot. I think he'll head east for now. Then there's the barb axe that was threatening Piranha Plant:

I think he's heading to the capital, but he won't get there. A chariot came in from Birdo and will take him out. I sent the axe in Piranha north to try to bait the axe into moving to Piranha (if that works); trying to keep him from pillaging the deer, but if he does it's not a huge loss.

Demos are looking better and better:

I know I mentioned having a plan to speed up Currency, but it looks like that won't be necessary. The idea was going to be to send half a dozen chariots over to Moogle to "solicit him for a contribution" (i.e. pillage his academy-powered capital), but it turns out that getting the chariots to him won't happen in time to help out Currency. I took [strike]a little bit of[/strike] way too much time to figure out how far away Currency was really going to be. Looks like t100 is our finish date, so it's 9 turns away. We turn on the research on t94 and that combined with some recently completed libraries will be enough to get it in 7 at top research.

I'm still considering the pillaging force though. It'd be awesome to slow down Moogle's tech rate while we keep teching up to attack. Actually, I may not wait for Cho-Ko-Nus to attack him with. I'm considering going HBR after Currency & Archery: whip every town for a quick stack of HAs and double turn him on the first turn of the war to take out his capital. Actually... I think I can double move his capital without him seeing my staging tile. As long as he doesn't hit 4th ring culture, all I need are 2 workers and a road in the desert. Maybe I should do this with chariots and see if I'm lucking enough to catch him without a spear in his capital

I got visibility on sunrise's tech. He'll have Currency in 4. That guy is a legitimate runaway threat but how best to take him down? I think that until I have the military I want to attack with I need to keep up the buddy buddy routine. Or is it better to try to work with Rome and Mali now? I can't do much now, nor until I get HAs or CCKs

It is. I can't even blame that one on typing with a phone. I'm just not having a great day (hense the shitty update and the morose outlook on sunrise "running away" with the game).

When I get home I'll show everyone how I'm going to double-move SleepingMoogle's capital. That'll cheer me up nod

You know, you're a lot nicer than people say you are, Krill.

Posting plans are going to have to wait a little longer; I'm getting out of town for the weekend, but I may find some time at my parents to update. (Probably late when they've gone to bed.) But not much happened: killed a barb, moved my scout to what I hope is an okay tile for sunrise, and turned on research for Currency. My damn expenses keep climbing and climbing (stupid pop costs money) so maybe I will need to raid Moogle's flood plains for financial assistance. Here's hoping to Currency in 7.

Completely agree with this - I've noticed the same. I think Krill has some sort of complex where he must insist that he's such a mean person, but it's really not true 99% of the time wink.
