Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[NO PLAYERS] The Kibitzer Klub: PB13 Map & Lurkers

Plus for the two people that this gambit will work out for, this will have been a great move.

And another way to look at it, would you rather be a team "playing it safe" that would end up stuck in the middle of the pack, or take a bold move with 33% chance of being on top, 66% chance of failing miserably?

With a pack this large even, I'd be incredibly tempted to try for a big play and risk not getting in the top few for a chance at glory.

Yeah. Who'd have thought that Commodore-Scooter and Lewwyn-Azza would be relatively peaceful borders?

I guess most of that is because they're vets; there might still be war among them, but not this early.

Still true.

This is painful to watch. Commodore has stopped one tile short of vision on two different decent food tiles as he's exploring his peninsula. He'll probably still find them, but only because he's got all the time in the world to bounce his scouting unit around.

Dtay is running a good thread, and has a question about double moves that I honestly don't know the answer to. anyone able to help him out?

I don't think that it's a double move, but if just one player wants to be an rules lawyer, it is against the letter.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

It isn't a double move against Jowy/TBS at all. But having Jowy/TBS believe that would require some trust, or that visual proof be posted somewhere it could be verified by lurkers in case they wanted to lawyer up.

PB9 reference, no PB9 players.
I vaguely recall Jowy having a situation in PB9 where he wasn't very amenable to a double move situation, but I don't remember the details of that one. I only mention it because if Dtay does log back in to change something involving the (separate!) barb warrior issue, Jowy may have a problem with it.

also silly:

At least it fits nicely with our dotmap.

let me check... nope, ScooPin still aren't AI players. (how terrifying would diety be if they were?!)

I'm not throwing the first stone at Azza here, but when you're not playing I guess it's easier to see the thousand options in between peace and forever war. Next time I go on tilt someone remind me of this post and how I tried to be rational once.

I already did this, like 1000x. lol

Unrelated... Nakor/Jester's city placement. Ehh, not a good idea. No human player could ever really let that go. Sorry for what's coming next guys.
