I have 884 gold saved, and I'm lucky enough that I can quite easily build wealth in my IW city (that's another 50 gpt...)
Other point is that my units won;t exactly be out of my lands for al that long. Next turn I'l atack Dreylins island. I have 9 units on boats to hit each of his cities, which are only defended by a cataphract, warrior, and archer (pics to come later). So next turn, if all goes well, I'll take out a third of Dreylins pop, and hopefully I'll have enough frigates there to sacrifice a few to take out his few SoL that I can see and a few SoL of my own to cover what I can. God I love 6 move Galleons. but a teaser:

--- First things first, move ships to see if I can move my galleons adjacent to the cities...Nothern city has a chariot and warrior, so should fall to one Galleon. Southern city has an LB and a warrior, so might need the second galleon. I'm not liking this Dreylin, were you going to backstab me? Anyway, on with the attack. Move down the Galleon with the 2 samurais (Darrell asked me to hide them, but I need their promotions to crack the 2 hardened combat units in that city). Rename them to Macemen and hope that works... 8.2% 6/8 CR2, D1, C1 Samurai v Musket, Win (WTF? I don't need this luck, I have a the units to win this sensibly). And losing 25 hp in al. 8.6% CR1, D1, C1 Samurai V Cataphract, Lose (finaly), Cat down to 8,2 health 20.1% Musket v 8.2 Cat, Win (...) I have 2 SoL around them and all of thoe frigates. I'm fairly comfortable with dealing with them no matter what they do, but it will likely get ugly, because I also have to deal with anything else Dreylin has in the fog and I don't know anything about that. I didn't know about that hidden invasion fleet, for instance, but that should be weakned now. Now, Dreylin could land his troops and attack next turn, or atack from teh boats into the northern city, but I doubt he will do that when I have 5 musketeers in the city, one of them CG3. And I can take Dreylins capital next turn, if he has left it empty...decisions decisions. If only I had another 4 galleons for those goddamned cannons and the newly built shit back home...oh well, can't have everything, and this turn has been a great culmination for my game IMO, exactly what I've been aiming for.

Dunno. Probably raze it, it has teh AP, Buddhist shrine, and Oxford. I raze that game is over. If I could hold it I'd love to though. But that would be more for style points than me trying to win the game.

Dreylin can only figure out they were samurai if he somehow notices the extra first strikes in the combat log. Anyway, thanks to all for resuming the game so we get to see this...! |
