[Spoilers] It's time to play the music

Turn 63

eek This city just got a whole lot better... Is it worth taking a peek with the warrior to see what the defenders are like?

Wow. yikes I even went back through the thread and checked to see if the city was there as a gimmick. You had unfogged the FP NE of the city center much earlier and there was no barb culture. That's quite the city.

I guess it's worth it to look? By the time we're ready to capture, there may even be a barb worker.

A new friend! Neither of us have alphabet so it'll have to be a declaration to keep scouting.

I offered a map swap. Note we both have four cities, we'll have six by the end of t66 which will make me feel a bit better.

Looking back at the opponent rating:

REM

Peter of Holy Rome (PHI/EXP)
Kublai of Aztec
Mehmed of Babylon

Going on past performances REM will beeline a military tech and pile headlong into a neighbour. It *just* worked in PBEM 67 (number?) and its too early to tell if its working in PB27. I don't think it'll work here. I'd have gone for Mehmed myself but what do I know, eh?

Neighbour rating: ArghArghArghArghArgh
End position prediction: 5th

I'd have wanted a faster start if I were REM, he settled cities t0, t37, t52, t54. EXP will drop off a bit now so I guess its a case of how well he can use PHI... HRE's UU is a bit of a cul-de-sac but the Rathaus should be pretty useful on this map. I *think* we're far enough away that we won't need to be watching for invasion any time soon, but having a sentry in the water would be a good idea.

jive Okay, so it'll totally crash the economy, but at size 7 it'll pump out 5t settlers, then we could turn it into the NE or Globe city... I'm not planning to rush to hook copper as we haven't seen a good reason to do that yet and the worker labour can be very useful elsewhere, but as soon as we get a Vulture he'll head over here with a chariot or two for company.

In other news I realised OT4E didn't meet someone else - he just revolted duh. This turn Mackoti landed Judaism and revolted immediately dubious.gif - needs a bigger happy cap I guess?

OR for wonder-buiding?

For the mids since he's got masonry (GLH) and invested in the bottom half of the tree which means we'll be faster to calendar.

I'm just a little surprised since Math would give more hammers per chop. But I guess smile and shrine are useful too.

Also, going for two costly early wonders and Judaism would be an..unusual opening.

To throw out an idea: Great Wall may well be worth it given the masses of fogged land and coast, especially if we grab Stone fast.

Commodore grabbed Colossus. Another MoM competitor down smile (only TBS, REM, Pindicator, 2metra left I guess). Two cities will grow unhappy next turn and then we'll hook the gold. Bunsen increased costs by 5gpt and research by 3bpt. Next turn Dr Teeth should increase them both by two.

Just after I said he'd only got four cities REM settled his fifth last turn. He offered the map trade back, I accepted then declared war on him. He's got an island all to himself, so should just have a lovely time expanding and won't attack anyone at all its a bit small isn't it. We're one of his closes neighbours. Oh crap. scared

Three clams and a sheep at the capital dubious.gif. He's settled for ivory already (way back on t37) but it looks like the silver and whales (no bubble) will be a while away.

Re: Mackoti's revolts - I guess OR would make sense, but two revolts is costly... Tech isn't really the bottleneck for Mids though so perhaps its a great move?

I do like the double GG points on the defensive (especially with our two neighbours), but if it were just on land I'd say two Vultures and a Chariot would be a better way of spending 100 hammers. What are the chances of barb galleys spawning and coming to rip up our nets though? I know the barbs research techs faster based on how many players have it, so it should be a while before they get Sailing... Unless that's not how it works?
