Games effectively over already. I have 39% of world pop,highest MFG and crop yield. I am losing gold at max tax though, but so little that I can cover the loss just by putting my IW city onto wealth. I've built a grand total of 4court houses and captured 3 more, so I can build the FP now if I want to...

Seriously, all that is left for me to do is to destroy Dreylins' current units and not lose the island I've just taken, and I think I can get Domination before Darrell could get a culture win. Next turn I get a GA if I want it, plus a revolt to PS means I could fairly simply double my army size if I really pushed, in 6 turns. Even grenadiers and rifles fall to the sheer numbers of musketeers I can make.

My "great gameplay" was getting to this position. Everything else is fairly straight forward. 6 move galleons and 3 promo frigates/SoL on an archi map are almost broken.

plako, I had Krill's permission to read his thread (and he mine). I'm not sure I would characterize my attitude as "couldn't care less". I gave Krill my army because I didn't have the time to properly coordinate a war (oh, the irony!), not because I've quit on the game. I put as much time into PBEM2 as I put into PBEM4, and will continue to do so until its over smile.

QFT. Reading your thread start to finish made me yearn for the days before Yaz invaded me. I can't help but wonder what would happen if I'd been allowed to continue my expansion in peace huh.

Unknown. I had a couple of great islands to expand to. You didn't. You'd have built up for a war sooner rather than later, after running out of good land, and that leaves you with either Yaz or myself as a target. I think you'd have been #1 in stats, especially because you'd have had those trade routes for far longer, propelling you to a greater tech lead. That means I was much less likely to be the one feared, but would you have attacked me (leaving me to be propped up by others in tech) or Yaz?

Yaz would most likely have crushed Ruff if he had turned back from attacking you, thinking that Ruff had NAPstabbed, leaving Yaz to continue building into an entire island.

You would have had quite a decision to make there, go after my wonders (and I would not have been defenceless if you attacked later on, shot of you NAPstabbing me), or go after an entire island as an ORG civ with the GLH.

If I were to hazard a guess, I think that you would have had a rather interesting attempt at winning via Dom, especially as SL could have expanded towards you...basically, our situations would be reversed, you going for the military victory, myself for something more peaceful.

Truth be told, I'd be quite interested on replaying on this map, or another one on a similar set up.

The capital ain't falling this turn, nor is Adrianople. Dreylin got Grenadiers and drafted muskets last turn. And he dropped off some cannons and muskets to take back a city that unfortunately has motre units in than he has units he can kill with.

So far I have effectively gifted a frigate kill to Dreylin...but it means he has to move his SoL back. Other than that, not moved anything...need to consider what to do about his 3 frigate kills that he got (pretty sure 2 of them were 50% odds, which slightly sucks). I either attack now and risk getting unlucky (and we've already seen how my luck is running on naval battles), or I stack everything up, surround, and kill next turn. Dreylin will not get odds next turn on offense, not with a 0.3 SoL.

Set a trap for Dreylins' 5 naval units, and placed 6 units into the city which he is threatening. He only has 5 that can kill, so the city is safe. I then have 9 units on boats and 8 units on land ready to kill his units next turn. I also left in the CG3 Musketeer, because it should have odds on the cannon on defence, I think, even if Dreylin promotes one to CR1.

The humourous thing last turn was that Dreylin revolted to NH, but he now has the lowest crop yield in the game, and Ruff is third in CY ahead of SL, but SL is supposedly Ruffs' master...yeah, diplomacy is fucked.

I revolted to PS/NH/FM because I know WW is going to get significantly worse, NH because I need the hapiness substitute and I now plan on winning by sheer numbers for the next phase of the war, and FM because I seriously need gold and not beakers and I think FM works out as better than Merc running merchants. Might go back to Vassalage in 5 turns though, but I reckon PS will be staying for a while...
