How about the satisfaction of leaving him behind on Planet Earth when we win the space race?

Seriously reconsidering moving FS back to Lib, making it +3 commerce to towns and +1 commerce to villages.
Also I'm still waiting for people to comment on how useless Merc is.

Krill, Merc is still good in AW. civ demands different decisions for each situation, and thats a good thing. Just cuz its not good *here* doesnt mean it's brokenly bad.

Still doesn't compare to current FS or SP though. Like, even at its best, it's questionable if it's worth anarchy.

Oh yeah, Merc is pretty useless compared to the alternatives. Even with us getting the Pyramids I don't think I would have ever swapped to it. Well, maybe for that brief window between Guilds and Economics, and only if we were SPI
Two specs is probably overkill though

I sadly don't have time for a full update, but just a quick note to say that the dust has officially settled from my 3-man golden age, and the end result is that Mackoti is basically in 3rd place right now. He's got a lead in total beakers researched and standing military so he's got options, but he's quickly falling behind Plako and I in the raw yields statistics.
Before the golden age Mackoti's production advantage over me was around 1.1k hammers/turn, now that it's done that figure is less than 300hpt, and I'm still integrating Lewwyn/Azzaland (I was comfortably 1st during my golden age). Given that Mackoti prioritized hammers while massively sacrificing on commerce, that's gotta sting for him to basically have that lead evaporated. 300hpt may sound like a lot, but when we're talking about 3.2k and 2.9k, it's actually not that much, especially when my commerce advantage can make up the difference. Plako is up there too, but he's still in 3rd. That's all while having I wanna say 5X as many towns as Mackoti, so my research ceiling is higher. Food is 1) scooter 2) Plako 3) Mackoti. Land is the same as is population. Mackoti has gotten Sistine and then Eiffel Tower over the last couple dozen turns, but there's no other signs of him actually going for a cultural victory which I don't think he can really do at this point. Weirdly, this past turn I did see him moving a huge naval stack including Transports north. I suspect he's looking to snipe some of the dtay cities or something. Actually, he may be trying to sell them to dtay? Or maybe he's attacking Commodore. I honestly can't tell, but my borders are much better defended now that I've had a golden age to build a bunch more machine guns.
Right now I've got research dialed up to 100% and I'm using wealth and research in a few cities, so I'm producing over 4500bpt with 0 gold loss at 100%. I can do over 5k bpt if I really pushed the wealth/research. I'm currently trying to keep a large stockpile of gold at all times for upgrades. If I spent my 8k gold right now, I think that would put me at #1 in military instantly. Alternatively, I can switch all the wealth to research and deficit research like crazy. My Ironworks city for instance is capable of producing a couple hundred gold/beakers per turn at all times which is pretty ridiculous. I'm finishing a coal plant in shrine city, at which point I should be able to knock out Wall Street in a decent time frame which is worth a healthy chunk of change too.
Honestly though, I'm breezing through turns as fast as possible right now. Right now would be a great time to go to war given how many options I have for that, but I just don't have time for that. A few turns ago I seriously ended turn without moving half my workers.
If I was fully committed, I think I could very likely win this thing - my position is probably the best (in terms of current value and future potential) of anyone's at this stage, and I feel super vindicated for "giving away" chump island cities to Mackoti in exchange for this super fertile/developed land I took off Lewwyn and Azza. So that in an of itself is very satisfying. I'm just confident that something will go horribly wrong for me given how little I'm putting into the turns anymore, so the smart money is probably on Plako right now.
One More Thing - Commodore still has the best teching abilities - I'm not naive to that fact. However, he just cannot win unless he gets more strong land. Now, the thing is he's in the middle of doing that. I do still think it's too little too late, especially since he's constantly having to use his commerce advantage to cash rush to make up for the fact that his production is like 1/6th of the leaders. I do think he's done an extremely admirable job in this game, though. His land sucks and there's not a lot of it, but he's leveraged Portugal extremely well. Excellent game from him, and while I really don't believe he can win, I think he's going to make it way closer than it realistically ought to be.

Maybe the 2k related forced break will allow you to focus time on a war when you come back (pretty please)?

Nothing really. No turns for like 5-6 days. Before that I was pretty much just hitting enter. Anytime you decide you want control of this, just say the word and it's yours. I'm first in nearly everything now except total beakers researched, and I'm starting to close in on that. Mackoti is almost-researching a ton of techs with the plan to overflow and deny known tech bonus, unsurprisingly. I'm about to build the internet, which now is +15% science in all cities (I''ll be first to Computers by a turn or two), so that'll be a more-helpful-than-it-sounds boost. I'm also going to stockpile scientists a bit to bulb a bit at the end.
That's basically all I've done. Pretty sure Plako can't win unless war breaks out for Mackoti or I - he's just a tad too far behind. One war though and he's in it too.
Lurkers: I would be 100% fine with a draw or whatever it takes to end this now. My time/interest is basically 0. Pretty certain the others just want to play on, just figured I would state that for the record in case the winds change or something.

Scooter, I don't think I have the time or interest to take over myself. Count my PB18 posts if you have any doubts.
