Wouldn't it be better to take it with border expansion or with the scout?

Yes it would.

It is better to pop now. This close to capital barbs are not possible so hut luck is the same for both scout and warrior. Most of the possible results are better now than after 5T e.g. Scout, map and tech especially, if it is Mining. Only main reason not to pop it is that I would get warrior revealing tiles faster via moving NW.

I never knew about this, so thanks. Here's something I found with more info on goody huts:

Yeah, that thread confirms what I mentioned earlier, "That's right - it's a side effect of the way research works. Importantly, the hut pop that happens when you found a city immediately adjacent happens before the city is founded."

Anyway based on that thread we can't get barbarians since it's closer than 8th ring cultural borders to our only city.

Hut provided 29 gold. Couple of other teams got techs. At least there are some holes in the jungle or we're close to northern border of it. Suprisingly flat area for a rocky map.

Starting to look a bit better now. Assuming I can put up a city near the rice and gems. Warrior probably needs to turn around to keep capital secured.

We've a contact with HitAnyKey Brennus of Ottomans.

Brennus (Agr/Spi) is a slow starter. Although both of his traits can prove useful, I still think below average leader. Ottomans are good nation, but specialities come a bit late for this setup.

In case we can consider warrior rush, he is unfortunately aggressive. At least his scout is pretty far from our core so that might not be feasible in any case.

I've played with HAK before and even subbed him once few years back. In one tech trading game I eliminated him with Rifles via being in a superior tech alliance. I hope he doesn't hold grudge against me from that wink. If he hasn't played for 2 years he might not have developed much, so I presume he is a bit below average player. However just reading RB will raise your skills so he has a good chance of developing fast. Way back he liked too much about wonders and kept too many of his forests for health purposes. In the tech trading game however he eliminated alone another player with cats and axes so I might have early headache with him.
