I could give those with a coast fish start an oasis instead of the lake. That way everybody has the same yields. Then again there's the long-term issue of food vs commerce:
Those who start with a sugar lack 1 food, but get 1 commerce over the others
With the addition of lighthouse those with the oasis once again would have 1 less food then the others.
The old 9x9 areas were just too lush in my opinion. I also fixed the floodplain pig at G, thanks again. I also decided not to switch the lakes for an oasis. Those extra commerce which some players get shouln't be too much of an issue.
I also prepared every start screenshot and rolled the leader/civs. I will post them tomorrow, so here is your last chance to give feedback.

What's your opinion?
That's an ingenious solution, but it only levels things out for the lake-food civs who start with fishing, the others will be behind again. (Fake edit: Aha, but you put two floodplains in, I think that works then. )
The later the yield is improved the less it's going to matter, so once we're talking about lighthouses I think you're fine. If you're really worried about it you could change a grass tile to be a plains tile.
Now that you mention it. Giving the non-lake food civ an oasis will always give them a commerce advantage vs lake-food civs without fishing. I must say I somewhat like the current scenario more, because in this it's at least a conscious decision on the player's side to go with Fishing for the advantage.
Its only going to amount to about 20 commerce (unless someone really doesn't want to research fishing in which case they deserve what they get). Seems fine to me.
I'd be all over superdeath's roll. Cyrus of France looks nuts with that starting area screenshot.
I don't care about perfect balance personally, but I can point out that start A and F have an advantage in that it's evident from turn 0 that they can plant an early city #2 on the river while also getting a 6F resource from capital. The other starts have the food tucked away from the river. It wouldn't be too late to just change the resource location if you feel it's a problem. Just thought I'd mention it before anyone picks a leader.
