Creative + build culture lets me do really fucking annoying things with my border culture:




I had wanted Scum to be east of it's actual location but Old Harry had his settler incoming and I didn't have a choice.  If I had tried to settle 1e he would have seen my settler and could have planted to prevent me from settling.  So I built culture to the second border pop.  

Border culture is going to get even more fun once I get a few monastaries and temples whipped out.

I have an Interesting Choice to make next turn.

I can either 2t Economics or 1t Philo to set up a Liberalism push.

Khan can tech both Lib and Economics and just finished teching Gunpowder, meaning he can Lib Rifling if he goes there next.

Problem ofc, is that he's been outspending me on EPs and can see my tech in progress. His safe play if he wants both goodies is to put 1t into Economics on his next turn and then wait to see what
I tech. If I start Economics, he finishes it. If I tech Philo, he leaves Eco with 1 turn to go and starts into Lib 1t ahead of me.

Think I'll aim for Economics and hope Auro techs Philo to put pressure on Khan to finish up Lib.

Then Gunpowder, Printing Press, Philo, Nat, Constitution....stuff.

I have a Great Artist on hand (could bulb 850 beakers into Divine Right, which is tempting) and a mongrel GP due in roughly 8 turns to make 3 for another GA if I can bag the Eco merchant.

No, unfortunately.

But i think I'll put in a minimal amount of beakers next turn and either change tacks or complete the tech on the following turn, building wealth and research as needed.

Still going around and around on teching DR and building the SM. It's worth ~60-70 gold per turn (after multipliers). But 1200 beakers for the tech and another 370 hammers for the wonder
makes it a longish payback time. If I can bag the Eco merchant then I'll almost certainly skip DR but if I miss it, bulbing most of DR and nabbing SM is going to be tempting.

Heh. So it was a moot point. Khan grabbed economic before I could put any beakers into it. So collected gold for 1t on philosophy. Tech next turn ( last turn of GA #2) and revolt into Merc and Theo.
