Oh, I didn't look. But I guess as it was first turn, it should be the standard traits, being:

Arcane
Charismatic
Creative
Insane

I wouldn't have settled that city. I'd have moved the settler 2NW and settled on the desert hill next turn.

I think you're kinda screwed.

You use 2 movement in desert, so I actually would have had to move for 2 turns to get there.

But yeah, I pretty much would agree with you. I wonder if the starting areas are really all like that.

Yeah, SevenSpirits gave us only a standard settler. I hope that his comment that all starting spots are comparable is correct - at least it seems others asked that question, so either they got really great starting spots or they got one similar to mine

Turn 1 played. Some people settled, others didn't (see score below). Capital expanded borders and it pretty much looks like that there really is no better spot in the near vincinity - moving 2 or more turns and hoping for the best is not my liking. Especially as I am used to "rough" maps from all my FFH2 games. Can't remember that I ever had a map where I was "wow, thats a good starting spot".

Anyway, what else? Scout popped the hut - got a map. That map showed were the next hut is as well as Letum Frigus.

Are you going to grow straight to size 2 on the oasis, or see if you can get to size 3 before pushing out a worker?

I'm not sure. I had in mind to grow to 2 and start the worker then because he will finish nearly the same time as AH. I'll see when I finally grow.
