Ah, I just assumed from Sian saying that you'd place his picks if he wasn't around. Makes Sian a bit less dangerous, although he's still capable of winning in this field if he doesn't get bored.

Ok, I've played the first three turns now. Xenu has invalidated my planned second city by making the only extra food resource in reach a JUNGLED rice. JUNGLED. It would also need a monument to reach from the plains hill, so it's probably a non starter anyway, but still...
I also found Xenu's oft talked about gems. They're jungled as well. An early IW might pay off in this game, as it's the only happy I've got on the board so far.

I started by building worker and going mining->BW. I maybe should have gone workboat first with the same techs for the extra early slavery, but I think the early worker turns are important because it's going to be a single worker start. That was gut feel rather than sandbox though.

Mining-> BW ahead of Pottery first is due to a lot of hammers being needed early due to the workboat, warriors worker and settler. I don't need a faster techrate because I have access to all the things I need to build. I also don't think the capital is strong enough for an uber early granary to pay off, and again I don't have a place to insert it into the build queue.

I apologise for the lack of screenshots, they've been failing for some reason. I'll figure out a way of fixing that tomorrow, which will probably make my top paragraph make more sense.

I'm going to scout west to the plains hill near my capitals fish. The north eastern site to the capital looks coastal and I'd rather not have to build a second workboat this early. There's no point sending my scout down south just yet.

Oddly enough I can only seem to take screenshots in fullscreen mode at the minute. Windowed mode is a personal preference, so if anyone has any ideas on preventing 'screenshot failed' in there, please let me know. It's admittedly not a huge thing.
