Turn 168
I decided to settle 1W of the old city site, so that the city can't be 1-moved this time. Borders will pop this turn.
We also settled Camilla next to Gonzo 2. These two new cities cost 20gpt and gained us 30bpt. After settling them Mack now has six fewer cities (temporarily I'm sure - I'm slightly inclined to think 2metra is his target now), TBS and Commodore each have three more cities than we do, REM has four fewer. I've got two more (very fillery) cities due to settle in two turns with perhaps room for another three very crappy cities after that.
On techs we're pretty far behind .
- Mack has Astro, Guilds, Gunpowder, Paper, HBR, Music and Theo.
- TBS has Guilds, Paper, HBR and Theo.
- Com has ?
- REM has Astro, Paper and Constitution (so he can't have Knights, ignore my previous post).
I went through the GPP plan this morning and decided that we want to switch to Representation as soon as possible (turn 172) which means not switching out of Pacifism... This is fine because I'd like to start our 3-man golden age some time in the next few turns.
- BB pops eot169 (could be any type of GP)
- TSC will pop eot173 (Art/Sci/Eng)
- Oscar will pop eot174 (Sci/Spy/Eng)
- Waldorf eot176 (Mer/Sci/Eng)
- BB gets the 1000GPP great person eot177 (?)
There will have to be at least three different types in that lot, right? Then we have a couple of other cities that will be ready to pop new GPs out during the 3-man GA:
- Fozzie will be left with 668 GPP (Sci/Mer/spy) eot173
- Elmo will have 558 GPP (Mer) eot173
The GP cities look like this:
On our western coast our Caravels are spreading out to keep an eye out for naval aggression. I found one REM Galleon, which looks like it's a similar early-warning system.

Is Mack attacking 2metra, or just waiting for our treaty to run out in five turns? He got Banking this turn so he'll get the Economics Merchant soon. I was worried he'd get Chemistry and use Frigates to bombard our coastal defences down, but if he's going for Economics then I think he'll take 2metra out first.

The first GP of our glut is an engineer. That's pretty nice - could be saved for a wonder or enable the 4-man golden age later on.
Meanwhile Mack resettled here. The Count pops borders eot171, which should be a little annoying for him.
Adding two more cities this turn cost 0gpt and gained 6bpt (thanks to both cities hiring two merchants each). I should enqueue some more settlers...

Given the 2 day turns dragging to 3 day turns...we need to take this out back and shoot it?
I'm happy to keep playing, but if Mack, Com and REM are done it seems a bit pointless carrying on. What does TBS think?

Not much going on this turn. We have three more Settlers in production, we'll revolt to Rep next turn (I doubt we'll change anything else) and our loan from 2metra expired, so I cancelled that and then declared war to cancel the 5gpt for OBs deal that I accidentally accepted five turns ago :grrr:. Cancelling the repayments to TBS next turn will improve our balance sheet by another 30gpt. Meanwhile we'll get some more intel on Mackoti's cities in the next couple of turns.
REM is definitely just making a sentry net here.

Not much going on this turn. But when we revolt to Rep our max beakers goes from 917 to 1227 and we're finally competitive on max GNP! Only TBS and REM are also in Rep, and they're the others with high GNP, Mack's is low due to his imminent conquest of 2metraninja (surprised he didn't attack this turn). Commodore's is on its way up, we'll have to see if that's a temporary spike.
We'll settle another couple of cities next turn and pop the second great person of this splurge. Mack finishes Chemistry eot, which spells ruin for someone.

Mack demonstrates how you do war with five cities down on the first turn . We settled two new cities this turn to stay one ahead, but we can be fairly sure that his will be higher quality in 5-10 turns when they come out of revolt. The two new cities allow us to 1-turn Education so we'll start on some Universities next turn.
Next turn will be the first without anyone in a golden age in a while, so we can get a better idea of where we all stand.
Noble - Mack is winning and has about 50 Zerks to upgrade and +25% naval hammers on a water map, but TBS isn't far behind and we're hot on his heels. Commodtay is a little behind, but has an awful lot of cities now, so they're in with a shout too. Fingers crossed Mack and TBS face off allowing us to catch up our tech deficit and perhaps eat OT4E or Com or REM...

Turn 177
I'm back from my holls for a couple of days - rest assured shoddy reporting will resume after tomorrow .
Mack finished eating 2metra - fourteen cities in five turns is pretty good going. He's got ten more cities than we do now. I don't know where his fleet is now, but we'll get a couple of turns warning if he's heading our way. I'm now thinking that provoking him into wasting time on us was a good move after all, if he'd done this ten turns earlier he'd be out of sight, whereas now TBS (who snagged Notre Dame this turn) isn't far behind and we're poised to take advantage of any fight between the two of them... :wishfulthinking: Anyway - we've got sight over most of his territory.
Still need to get the capital, but Max will get that in the next couple of turns.
Of course Commodore might be about to knock TBS down a peg or two here. I don't see him king-making for Mack though, even if he is bored of this game, so I wonder if he was thinking of vulturing some of 2metra?
Domestically losing Gonzo screwed up the university building program a little, so it'll be a while before Oxford is built. Demos are a fair reflection of our chances now.
