[SPOILERS] Fall From Heaven II PBEM V Lurker's Exclusive Thread

there really is no counter to PZ's

i mean, multiple-move units like horsemen can do it, and life mages too i guess, but pretty much everything else gets devastated by PZ's because of the splash damage.

Yeah, there doesn't seem to be any good counters to a PZ offensive that you can get to in the time it'd take for a Sheaim player to get to them. Horsemen are about the same number of techs, IIRC, but they are woefully inefficient at holding cities. *If* you can get to stack-killers like cats, Ritualists or Mages then you have better odds, but that's a rather unlikely if. OTOH, like the Ilians, the Sheaim don't really have the traits to get the most out of a successful rush. Not that that'll help SL if he gets steamrollered.

tasunke of the sheaim tbh

Raiders doesn't add much to the mix. It's a late game war trait.

I do honestly think that Kandros Fir of the Sheaim is pretty much unbeatable though. Financial to tech to Bronze Working fast, Ingenuity to mass upgrade warriors, and Aggressive to give them more of a punch.

This seems to be an interesting game now that I've caught up on it.

One thing that everyone including the Clan seems to be unaware of is that Sareln needs an arcane unit to cast arcane lacuna. Therefore a choke is in the clan's best interest since Sareln he's not going to build adepts while being choked.

On the other hand, the clan should finish him off quickly before he does get a arcane unit. Either way, 4 archmages this early should be able to kill everyone off rather easily.

Sareln disagrees with you there. He's busily heading to Knowledge of the Ether, in the hope of building some enchanted blade adepts.

Not entirely sure. The other civs will need to work together. But the key point is Gibbon Goetia.

Puppet doubled, summoner Earth Elementals are the worlds best hope against the Fire Elementals. If Gibbon can get up to twincast, then he'll actually have a casting advantage. And one of the more interesting aspects of illusions... if they successfully defend, then they heal back to full health. Puppets strip the illusion trait from summons though.

Bob has a NAP with the clan until T110, which is easily long enough for a dedicated beeline to get access to Gibbon, although he won't have enough time to level him up very highly before the Sons come.

One Archmage against four isn't the best odds, but with puppets, summoner, twincast, and the support of the other world powers it just might work.

In the rest of the world... Pyre Zombies could be useful. Assuming a few of them survive this current rumble. They're fire resistant, and the explosions are always handy. And of course Arcane Lacuna represents the first and best hope against the Sons. The clan plan of showing off a Son and getting Sareln to blow his worldspell, then positioning against someone else... just seems like it is designed to get the entire rest of the world in a coalition. Flaunt superweapon, then give everyone a clear window of opportunity to attack them in.

And lastly, they could help by attempting to powerlevel Gibbon. Once Gibbon has twincast he'll be an arcane force to be reckoned with, capable of generating a force of up to 16 earth elementals.

It will be interesting to see what happens at Totoro. My initial instinct was plako made a mistake putting all those units in the city, because after 3-4 the splash damage is going to make mincemeat of the rest. Upon further review however, let's say 2 units win. The next 5 die but the city is saved and now Serdoa is down to 5 PZ's total, with some amount of wounding. They can then attack from the Barnaxus stack. The city is still likely to fall but this play gives them a chance at least. The only thing I might have done differently is only put 5 units in the city, and hope to win three combats.

...Well, SL, looks like you aren't dead, and can rebuild Barny. Don;t think anyone saw that coming...

If only he would update his thread (says the last guy who should complain about someone not updating their thread) bang. I will say I haven't seen any sign of combat Workers roading to the front.
