He probably wants to get the colossus. He knows that someone got metal casting early with the oracle, so his only chance of getting the colossus is to really rush for it.

Plako has a lot to gain from Metal Casting: 2 rare metals for happiness, a lot of resource-poor coastal sites where working water becomes inevitable early, an aggressive opponent just along the coast, and still early enough to have a decent chance of landing the Colossus. In contrast to Currency, Plako doesn't have great REX-ing opportunities, so there's less urgency to Currency. Whether Metal Casting is the right decision is hard to say, but it is certainly a decision.

Dammit. I had April 10th at the first time someone equated MackSeven to Hitler in the Diplo Thread pool! So close! Damn you, Godwin, damn you to tell.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Lord Parkin Wrote:Ah, the forum's back up at last. An epic battle took place while it was down earlier... Azza had moved his Keshik out of his capital, so it was 4 units of ours vs 3 of his in the capital. I had simmed it out and it was pretty close to 50/50 odds (we succeeded in 9 out of 20 sims). If 20 combat sims is his take on a casual game, I wonder how many sims he would run in a omgwtfbbq serious game?

I will set my alarm for 2:00am to make sure I am first to move and this great opportunity doesn't escape me (for just this one time).

LP literally cannot play casually, bless him. He probably should have skipped this game, but it's not that often that big, reliable pitbosses are started up so I guess he didn't want to miss out.
If the battle was for something truly important in this game (i.e. game defining), it wouldn't surprise me in the least for your theoretical quote to be spot on.

I never really understood the drive to 1upt, anyway. huge armies don't actually take up all that much room in the real world.

I will say, though, that his reasoning is pretty sound. 50/50 odds where the prize is a cap? I'd do that every time.
