I think that if you haven't played in a game with a player like Parkin, it is impossible to understand how incredibly annoying the non-stop clock games are. For Lurkers, it's just a blip on the radar, but for a player, to look at Civstats every day and see 10 logins but no ended turn, it just eats away at you. "Why won't he end his turn?" "How many times did he log in today?" "Oh, just 15? Must be a slow day." Multiply that times 8 months, and you see why most of the people who have played with Parkin will never again. It's not because of his apparently-prodigious skill with diplomacy or his penchant for wonder whoring.

As someone who has not yet played an MP game in this sort of forum, can someone explain for me, please, why exactly and how does the clock gaming become incredibly annoying? How exactly does it affect you, especially for example in this game where double moving is allowed? Surely you should just expect it as a possible move by your always war enemy... I would have thought.

I am sorry to say I do not really understand why it is such an issue <blush>. Apologies if this is obvious to most of you ... just want to understand the issue better. Thks.

@speaker: I really wonder why you would care how often he logs in or not.

And about the clockplays:
I really fail to see the difference between clockgames used always or only when they give you an advantage. If they don't matter i couldn't care less and if they do it hurts no matter how often you used them before or not.

So I see no difference between LP here, MackSeven here and other people using clockgames in other games.

This x 100.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

The difference is pace of the game. Someone who does it all the time slows the game down.

Have you ever played a multiplayer game? I'm not trying to start a fight. I'm genuinely curious.

Its a shame X-Com couldnt convince plako to join in on their little effort earlier. Now that their main attack has waned a bit, I guess Germany where they are now -- although it seemed to me that they would hold more than they have so far.
